Certainly not a bad option - at some point Kendrick has to come out of the rotation. Hopefully Happ comes back by the All-Star break as well. The Phils are a second half team (or at least have been since they started this run) so getting some fresh arms to help can't be bad. And on the bright side, if Hamels continues to look as good as he has, Pedro is no longer the second best pitcher come post-season time (assuming there is a post season this year).

Just what the doctor ordered. Phils take one from the evil empire. Moyer was his crafty self, handing Lidge a 6-2 lead. Lidge makes everyone sweat, striking out Jeter and Swisher but then allowing the tying run to reach the plate before finishing off the side with a third K of Posada.

The bats were alive with the Flyin' Hawaiian with a bases clearing triple and Howard and Worth with back to back HRs.

All in all, a great night. :thumb:

Still amazing that Moyer is able to get people out like he does. And last night against the Yanks of all teams. And gotta hand it to Moyer - this may be his best year pitching for the Phils outside of the half a year he pitched after getting traded here - his WHIP is a shocking 1.13 right now. And if not for the Boston debacle, his ERA would be pretty decent as well. I still don't want him pitching an inning in the postseason (should we get there) nor do I want him back next year, but gotta give him credit.

Whodathunk Halladay would get rocked and then Moyer and Kendrick would dominate the evil ones?

:notworthy:

Phils are getting their mojo back. If you missed the game, be sure to see a replay of the defensive plays by Polanco (catch while laying across the tarp roll) and Contreras (behind the back). Just a lot of fun to watch tonight. Contreras' K of Jeter, blowing a 94 mph high heater right by him, was a thing of beauty too. :thumb:

Jeter 0-11 in the series, Rivera with 0 pitches. :thumb: :thumb:

Amen on the trifecta of defensive plays last night: Werth, Polly & Contreras.

Hopefully the offense keeps it going on the 9-game homestand. J-Roll they're saying could be in the lineup Sunday.

Yeah, I read where he's playing five innings a night now in Florida. I hope they don't rush him.

Philly Daily News is quoting Davey Lopes saying that Chase Utley has been battling a knee injury. Confirms rumors that have been swirling regarding his prolonged slump.

It's a shame if true. A knee and a hip in less than two years. Makes you wonder about his durability. Certainly can't question his work ethic.

If he needs a scope, I hope he goes sooner rather than later. He could probably be back by the beginning of August if he went now.

FAILiees now 5.5 behind the Braves and falling fast. lots of games left to play but the Braves are streaking and could run and hide with the NL East.

Congrats on your sweep of the vaunted Kansas City Royals.

The Phils have been decimated by injuries, but Rollins may be back as early as Tuesday and Happ is now pitching rehab. It looks like the offensive slump may be over as well, with 33 runs scored in the last five games against the Yankees and Twins. It'll take more than a June hot streak to dethrone the back-to-back-to-back NL East champions. 95 games to go.

y'all had better get it turned around fast. you're three games out of second place and trying to jump over two teams is hard sledding. it will be an interesting summer.

bad news for you......Chipper Jones is showing signs of life. :coffee:

Eh, Phils just 2 games back of the Mets and 4 back of the Braves in the loss column - and we still have a week and a half to go in June. The season's just about halfway through - plenty of games to be played (including tons of NL East games) and the Phils are a second half team (Phils are 35-32 right now - last year, on the same day, the Phils were 36-31 - doesn't matter where you are in June, just matters where you are at the start of October). If the Phils are this far out at the end of July I could be worried - right now, I'm just not worried.

In my BEST Harry Kalas voice: "Greg Dobbs is oooooouuuuuttttttttttttttttaaaaa heeeeeeeeeeeeeere". 'Bout time, he was stealing money for the past year & a half. Hopefully that helps shake things up in the clubhouse.

Well, the road for Northern victory in the Civil War went through the Confederacy (and interestingly enough, Atlanta in both cases) and we all know how that turned out.

Let me know when the Braves plan their parade for being the champs of the first half of the season - might even be able to get all 20k people who show up for Braves games there.

we're actually just going to stick with the same parade route that became so familiar and a YEARLY ritual for Braves fans. you know 14 in a row? we fucking OWN you like Scarlett owned Big Sam.
i am unfamiliar with the term "civil war" when was that?

"Same parade route"? "Braves fans"? Seriously, what are those terms as they relate to Atlanta? For most of those 14 years you guys couldn't even get to the games in the playoffs - empty seats were doing most of the cheering. And you guys had parades for division titles? Really? Most people save those for World Series titles, but then again, the inability of the Braves to translate those division titles into World Series titles is well chronicled. Heck, even making the World Series became difficult. Might as well celebrate when you have something to celebrate. So therefore, you guys should be out on the streets pretty soon - 1st half division title champs!!!! What a parade that will be, plus you can still make it home by October to watch the Phils on TV!
