One Hornet fan hates it, but that's part of the natural-artificial turf debate. The vast majority of SacBuzz is giddy about the field.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

I tend to fall on the grass side of the debate...but that looks very nice.

Looks really good. How many BSC schools will still be playing on natural grass this season? Seems like most have made the transition to field turf.

So to answer your question ranger roughly 80% of the schools in the conference play on turf. Rumor has it we are supposed to get some facility/ field upgrades soon but im not holding my breath. Personally i am not to picky when it comes to grass or turf since as long as i the game can be played and the field is in good condition im okay. God forbid if Weber State tries for a purple field

They're just starting ours. They tore up the old stuff last week and now are doing the prep work. Said it is supposed to be finished by July 1st. I'll post pics of ours when it's done.

If you haven't already, follow the link in my sig (click the image). All this rain we've been getting will likely delay the prep work by a couple days to a week for it to dry out.CatMom wrote:They're just starting ours. Re: New Fieldturf Duraspine PRO at Sacramento State
I was a little behind. The video is from 2 weeks ago and they begin installation tomorrow; to be finished by July 1st.
We're pretty much done with rain here for the summer. It's already in the upper 90's.June 16, 2010
San Marcos - - Texas State's Jim Wacker Field at Bobcat Stadium will have a new look when the Bobcats kick off their 2010 football season against Southern Arkansas on September 11.
The school is in the midst of installing a new FieldTurf Duraspine PRO turf system at the stadium that will feature maroon end zones and side lines. Each end zone will have "Texas State" spelled out in gold letters, and a Bobcat logo will be placed in the center of the field.
In addition, one end of the field will have a Conference logo between the 20 and 30-yard lines with Jim Wacker Field spelled out between the 20 and 30-yard lines on the other end of the field.
The playing field will be covered with the FieldTurf Duraspine PRO turf system, which is the newest standard in artificial turf and has more durable artificial grass blade that is also significantly softer than any other in the industry. The turf is scheduled to be installed beginning June 22 with an anticipated completion date of July 1.
The Bobcats play six home games in 2010. In addition to playing Southern Arkansas, the Bobcats will battle against Cal Poly on September 18, Southern Utah on September 25, Nicholls on October 16, Northwestern State on October 23 and Central Arkansas on November 6.
Texas State is one of the first NCAA or NFL teams to use the Duraspine Pro FieldTurf. Texas State joins the New England Patriots, Sacramento State and the University of Arizona as organizations that have opted for the latest in innovation from the world leader in artificial turf.

What SH means is that he is the only one that want's us to keep grass...and the additional maintenance/upkeep costs associated with it.SuperHornet wrote:One Hornet fan hates it, but that's part of the natural-artificial turf debate. The vast majority of SacBuzz is giddy about the field.
Re: New Fieldturf Duraspine PRO at Sacramento State
Thanks. For some reason I thought Weber had artificial turf of some sort. ISU's is not field turf, but I think the old astro turf or whatever. And yeah, from what I have heard it is pretty bad; it does need to be replaced.SUUTbird wrote:At this point it seems that the teams that have/are getting field turf are:EWURanger wrote:Looks really good. Looks great!
"Born in other countries, yet believing you could be happy in this, our laws acknowledge, as they should do, your right to join us in society, conforming, as I doubt not you will do, to our established rules. That these rules shall be as equal as prudential considerations will admit, will certainly be the aim of our legislatures, general and particular." --Thomas Jefferson, letter to Hugh White, 1801
Re: New Fieldturf Duraspine PRO at Sacramento State
You are correct, Weber does have artificial turf on one of their practice fields and the game field is grass. Weber better NEVER switch to Purple field turf or I will be done going to home games.cats2506 wrote:I think weber has artificial turf on their practice field, but the game field is grassEWURanger wrote:

I think I can live with EWU's red field, (withholding judgment anyway) but I agree a Purple field would be nausiatingajwildcat wrote:You are correct, Weber does have artificial turf on one of their practice fields and the game field is grass. As someone who is still playing football I would much rather play on field turf than grass.

GOD FORBID
Hey we have a turf practice field
I dont know too much about plans at Weber to install turf or not, I do know that coach Mac likes real grass more than turf, Personaly I dont care which, but Weber needs to do something about the designs on thier field, its boreville
Black endzones with Weber State and Wildcats in separate endzones written in Purple and outlined in white, a Big Sky logo at both 25 yard lines and a large Wildcat in shield logo at midfield B E A utiful
