Worrisome Tie to Carter for Obama

Post by GannonFan »

Interesting as to how many different venues (tv news, Congressional hearings) are beginning to keep a daily count of how many days it has been since the Gulf oil leak began. While I was still a fairly young kid, even I remember the daily recitation of how many days Americans were being held hostage in Iran. You have to figure the more and more real connections to Carter are just not a good thing for Obama. You can almost see Hillary rising to take on the role of Ted Kennedy and thinking of a run for the nomination.

And she might be able to win the nomination, unlike Kennedy. After all, she hasn't killed anyone -- except Vince Foster.

There was an op-ed in The Wall Street Journal this week where the author speculated that the Hildabeast will soon move to Defense from State, replacing Gates, where she can insulate BHO from national defense critics to his right. Hillary will then replace Biden on the ticket in '12 and Biden will move to State.

Geez, I like Biden, but really, Secretary of State? At least as VP his public comments can be brushed off and he can be scheduled so that he doesn't speak publically too often, but at State, he's going to have to talk quite a bit. Is that really safe?

I don't think there's any way Hellery settles for second in command - I think she'll resign as SoS next year and begin ramping up her campaign to challenge BHO in 2012.

And Biden as America's mouthpiece?

Perhaps BP will allow the well to spew for the next two and a half years and then cap it on the day the Republican president is inaugurated?

Maybe I'm forgetting somebody, but when was the last time an incumbent Prez didn't get his party's nomination?

Well, you do need to include LBJ in that equation. Sure, he didn't technically "lose" the nomination - he just quit the race when it became apparent that he had no chance of winning the nomination. IMO, I'd count him (although he's not in my lifetime -surely he's in OL FU's lifetime, seeing how old he is. ;) )

I didn't say she'd win - she got shown the pimp hand last time but we'll get a read on how satisfied the Dems are with BO's performance if this scenario presents itself. Hildabeast isn't getting any younger - she's probably got '12 and '16 as last opportunities.

Carter wasn't a bad guy at all. He had the kindest and gentlest persona of any President in my lifetime.

I think he COULD of been a successful leader had he surrounded himself with better people. He took too many of his friends and buddies from the good 'ole boy network to DC with him. If he had surrounded himself with people that actually knew something instead of just friends he might of had a chance.

He was a voted incumbent from 1964. I agree with GF here, you'd certainly have to count him. He technically didn't lose the nomination because he withdrew but only after a bad defeat in the New Hampshire primary.

I don't think Hillary will make a move in '12. Too risky. Probably wait to test the waters in '16. I do think she may get the nod as VP in '12 to position her for the '16 run.
