Meh. It's our first CAA season. The whole enchilada can be considered the short of the stick...tribe_pride wrote:You guys got the short end of the stick for your bye week. Either September 3, 10, 17 or November 19. Assume you'll try to make it Sept 17 which isn't horrible but not ideal either

Too bad ODU opens up @ UD. I was thinking it would be great to have ODU @ JMU on Sept 3 or 10: The 1st CAA game for the newest CAA team (and already one with one of the highest attendances) @ the 1st game in the new Taj Majal of I-AA stadiums. Add on to the fact that 2011 JMU could be an NC contender. That would be one hyped game, at least within VA. With it being a likely night game and only a 3 hr drive Norfolk to Harrisonburg, I wouldn't be surprised to see ODU bring 4-5k fans, and with the hype of it being JMU's 1st game in the new stadium, likely would get a 25k sellout.∞∞∞ wrote:ODU's Complete CAA 2011 Schedule

But, but, but ODU beat Chowan, and Chowan beat the shit out of Livingstone College and Johnson C. Smith, so that's saying something.LastMinuteman wrote:Sept 5, 2009 - URI 41 Fordham 28 (was 41-7 midway through 3Q)Tribe4SF wrote:

ODU still has a ways to go before they can pick on Rhody.

See, that's just funny right there - even Towson wants a crack at ODU. You know when URI and Towson are lining up eagerly that it will be bumpy for a few years for ODU.andy7171 wrote:JFC October 15, 2011 can't get here soon enough.

Towson's program is in the process of rebuilding after being completely torn down last year. It will be interesting to see how both programs going through the same process but on completely different levels of competition fare in their third year.GannonFan wrote:See, that's just funny right there - even Towson wants a crack at ODU. I've been to Towson-ODU basketball games, I liken their fans to JMU, only without streamers or good grades.

Well, seems like the JMU AD has screwed up again, because apparently JMU will have only 5 home games the 1st season in the new stadium as for the 3 OOC games have on 9/3 @ UNC and I think @ Liberty. So whoever the 3rd OOC is will likely be the home opponent for the 1st game in the new stadium on 9/10. It will probably be VMI or someone similar.∞∞∞ wrote:Yeah people close to the AD I know said JMU and ODU were working on opening up the "Taj Mahal of I-AA stadiums"with our two teams playing, but obviously they were wrong. ODU @ UD will be fun though. It'll be a good trip for sure no matter the outcome.
I wonder who JMU will open with though? Hopefully y'all bring an awesome team that'll give you a challenge and not some D3 team like UVA.

Or, maybe it was intentional. JMU's not going to fill that stadium any time soon outside of maybe Parent's Day, so maybe it was a decision to go with less dates and hopefully build the demand for tickets and potentially boost % attendance at the new stadium? It would be rather unseemly to spend all that money building a self-described Taj Mahal and then have the place be 30% empty for most games (if attendance is 17k). Better to get people in there and maybe hit 20k more than once and maybe they'll really like it and keep coming back.BDKJMU wrote:Well, seems like the JMU AD has screwed up again, because apparently JMU will have only 5 home games the 1st season in the new stadium as for the 3 OOC games have on 9/3 @ UNC and I think @ Liberty. I have also been to Towson-ODU basketball games. While I cannot comment on their fans, because there weren't any, I liken their teams to Hofstra, only without any athletic ability nor a viable coach.andy7171 wrote:I've been to Towson-ODU basketball games, I liken their fans to JMU, only without streamers or good grades.
