VU alum raise 100K+ dollars thru message board for FBS team

Post by ∞∞∞ »

They're taking this conference very seriously as a dooms day scenario for VU. VERY proactive...gotta applaud their efforts!

It's not a lot for an FBS team, but at least it's something...especially since the thread was posted today.

That's what having a bigtime basketball program can do for you.

Desperate times for desperate measures. Unfortunately, nova's something like 3 decades late. Heck, even UConn might be in trouble after all of this and they have an FBS football program (team, facilities, support) that nova could only dream of. At the end of this, nova will still be in a very good basketball conference, and they will have to hope that not being in one of the superconferences will not degrade the basketball program over time (which I think is a very reasonable hope - you don't need big time football to stay big time basketball - it helps, but it's not required).

But nova has no option right now to somehow create a quality FBS program no matter what happens on a message board (and $100k isn't enough to pay a coach at that level for more than a few months of one year). Btw, Delaware, with no FBS aspirations, came out last year and said people had to donate money just for the chance of parking in certain lots at FCS home games. Delaware raised about than $5M - $7M.
