Ranking the Big Sky tight ends

Post by SouthDakotaGrizzly »

Part 4 of the Billings Gazette series:

TOP 10 TIGHT ENDS

1 - Kyle Begger, Sr., Montana State
Comment: New starter should be big key to MSU passing game.

2 - Kyle McMillin, Jr., Portland State
Comment: Figures to step in as Vikings' top tight end option.

3 - Matt Martin, Sr., Eastern Washington
Comment: Has some big shoes to fill in Cheney.

4- Tyrell Francisco, Sr., Weber State
Comment: Two-year understudy could benefit from the return of QB Higgins.

5 - Rob Overton, Sr., Montana
Comment: Is counted on to pick up key production in Griz offense.

6 - Jon Krebs, Jr., Sacramento State
Comment: Has wide-receiver size but is quality in tight end spot.

7 - Doug Steele, Soph., Northern Colorado
Comment: Productive JC player looking to make impact in move up.

8 - Josh Hill, Soph., Idaho State
Comment: Needs to step up to help ISU's offense,

9 - Greg Hardy, Soph., Montana
Comment: Unproven but likely to get quality playing time for UM.

10 - Taylor Meyrick, Fr., Portland State
Comment: Might not make an impact in 2010 but potential is enormous.

A lot of new starters in this field, so it's really a crapshoot. As for Montana, Hardy might push Overton thanks to his receiving skills, which will come in handy in the new offense. Of course, with a lot of turnover on the O-line, some extra blocking skills might also come in handy...it'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

No NAU TE's? But an "unproven" Montana #2?

Might as well put 2008 Honorable Mention All-Big Sky TE Brian Riley in there - hobbled by injuries last year, he should be a big part of the Jack offense in 2010.

Odd that he went with recruits. If new players are the attention-getters, then PSU's Julius Thomas should get a mention. A senior 6"7"" basketball forward the last three - four years, he decided to try football since he's termed out of basketball, and believe it or not as TE caught 3 balls handily in the spring scrimmage. And Burton says he blocks well too. He may well beat McMillan out this year.

Thomas didn't play in the spring game. Roster said he was injured. I did hear that he turned more than a few heads during the spring, though. I'm really looking forward to seeing him in the fall to see if he can bring the same level of intensity as on the basketball court.

He played in the scrimmage (two weeks before the game) - on the white team as I remember. Caught three balls. Besides freshman McMillan we brought in t least one other JC at TE. And there's a senior. We're a little thin at that position, though.

Absolutely right! :thumb:

Early results indicate that my queefing has never been stronger, or more productive!

Bad news for Ursus! Because so far, he's lost both eye brows, and a portion of one of his ears!

Can't wait to see the damage I'll cause GATW when I finish my P90 Kegel X program!!
