Week 11 - Bracket Extravaganza

Post by Mvemjsunpx »

Here's the new bracket for this week. Not many changes yet again; the only difference in playoff selections is the OVC auto-bid switching from Tennessee-Martin to Tennessee State. I again included Prairie View in the rankings because they're 8-1 and are not likely to get to the SWAC title game. I have JMU & Villanova as the top two seeds this week, though I doubt the committee would actually give Nova the 2-seed & force both halves of the bracket to go through the CAA. Rather than worry about which familiar opponent to send to Missoula (NW State or Cal Poly), I decided to avoid the issue & give Montana a cross-country matchup since whoever goes there will be forced to fly anyway.

Here are my bracket's disclaimers:

1. These are the teams I think should be in the field & how they should be seeded, not necessarily who I think the committee will choose.
2. This bracket is based what would happen if the playoffs started today. I'm not attempting to predict future games.
3. I use a points system to determine playoff credentials (that's what the "+#" & "-#" next to the teams in the power rankings are). It's more of an attempt to rank each team's credentials than just a subjective ranking of how good each team is (like a top-25 poll). You can find an detailed explanation of my system in this thread (second post): http://www.championshipsubdivision.com/ ... f=4&t=877.

Not a bad bracket, just wish/hope when the brackets are announced that all three WC teams are not on the same side of the bracket.

Yeah, that's a good point. With that in mind, I probably should have flipped the Montana & App State games, though that would put both SoCon teams on the same side.

But the SoCon is better they can handle it. ;)
