Georgia QB to drop down?

ATHENS, Ga. -- Georgia has one fewer contender for its starting quarterback job after coach Mark Richt announced Sunday that touted redshirt freshman Zach Mettenberger was kicked off the team for violating team rules.

Mettenberger threw two touchdowns in Georgia's April 10 spring game but already was facing at least a one-game suspension after being arrested on alcohol charges during spring break. The team didn't reveal if Mettenberger was involved in another incident, or if his dismissal from the team was the result of more details becoming known from his arrest.
Kid's 6'5, 230.Definitely got talent. Where might he go?

I'm guessing he sits out a year and stays FBS. He certainly won't be going to UD. Delaware doesn't take discipline projects.

Maybe not but they take about every FBS drop down QB they can get. Apparently KC can't recruit them out of HS, but as a transfer he can.

And why the fuck does KC wear sunglasses in a fucking dome, when it isn't even sunny outside of the dome?

His future is very bright.

"Yes, well, Towson actually."

It's not worth crying about.

Actually UD has 3 promisiong young QB's in the stable. We'll see how this year turns out but I'd be surprised if they go the QB transfer route again next year after Devlin heads off to the NFL.

KC gets the same criticism from the UD fanbase as the UD posters here get from the non-UD posters. He has acknowledged the issue numerous times in the past couple of years, especially after the Schoenhoft flop.

Like BHBK says, we have Trevor Sasek and Tim Donnelly as redshirts this spring and Justin Burns inbound from Alpharetta GA for next year. KC is counting on one of them to step up.

I think Mettenberger's mother is part of the Athletic association. Never going to beat out Murray? I'd say that was evident with the QB battle between Stafford and Cox their freshman year that this is not the case. Stafford and Cox fought it out their first few games before Richt decided on Stafford, even though Stafford was the top QB prospect..... Just because Murray came in as the #3 QB didn't guarantee him the starting spot. According to numerous sports authorities on the Dawgs down here, Mettenberger has looked the best all spring. I saw him play at G-day and he definitely looked the best, though it wasn't against "1st stringers." Mettenberger was definitely in contention for the starting spot, I think this may be one of the reasons why the coaching staff hasn't released the post-spring depth chart yet. Wherever Mettenberger lands the team will be getting a great QB. As SE mentioned in the first post, kid is a huge QB with talent...

.... apparently there's more to his arrest than has been brought out and it's still "under investigation." I've heard rumors of a girl being involved.

Maybe he was hanging out with another 6'5" QB, Roethlesburger in Milledgeville taking notes...

Met must have really brought up his game. I watched both compete in HS and in numerous combines and always thought Murray the stronger of the 2 by far. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.
