looking at this schedule what are your predictions for the monarchs in 2010...another 9-2 year? I think its a possibility but it will be a lot tougher as its a lot tougher schedule from 2009....we decided to drop a return trip to Georgetown for another "road" game at Hampton (25 minute drive from ODU's campus )
Jacksonville 7-4 (Defeated 28-27 in 2009)
at Campbell 3-8 (Defeated 28-17 in 2009)
William & Mary 11-3 (DNP)
at Monmouth 5-6 (Lost 31-28 in 2009)
Gardner-Webb 6-5 (DNP)
Cal Poly 4-7 (DNP)
Georgia State 0-0 *FIRST SEASON*
at Hampton 5-6 (DNP)
Savannah State 2-8 (Defeated 38-17 in 2009)
VMI 2-9 (Defeated 42-35 in 2009)
at NC Central 4-7 (Defeated 42-28 in 2009)
...included are records and outcomes from 2009.

I think we'll upset either Cal Poly, Hampton, or W&M. I wanna lean towards Cal Poly 'cause it's at home, but Hampton seems to be the "easier" game. I highly doubt the upset will be W&M though. I also think we'll lose another game or two...it's still our second year and we have a lot to learn. So I'm going with
8-3/7-4.

Wow, congrats on the 1st year of success & I think ODU will do very well down the road. But when you get beat at home by a team like Monmouth, playing some of the best teams in the CAA is a whole different game. Especially a team that will want to make a recruiting statement.

6-5 for me. Could go up to 8-3 or as low as 5-6 pretty easily IMO.

Looks good to me...although Georgia State might be motivated, being the brand new guy, to beat last years darlings of FCS...

I wouldn't be suprised to see ODU beat us. We have some new players, and a lot of guys who had injuries who were key returning. Our offensive line will be much improved, but we still have our weaknesses- such as our passing game.
Expect some boomer kicks if Langford is in though.. He should be able to kick it into the endzone on a regular basis.
Also, watch out for Mark Rodgers, and (if he's played), Dominique Johnson at receiver, and K.J. Cusack (hopefully he's played) has excellent elusiveness, and explosive speed.
I think we filled a lot of the holes we had after a tough start last year vs. we played a great FBS Ohio, a not so great WAC San Jose State- where we didn't lose bad, and a very good Montana team.
There were problems with the 2009 team for sure- The coaching staff only had a few weeks to get the team in order, as Ellerson departed for Army.
The 2009 season was illustrated by a lack of confidence at QB, rather weak offensive playcalls, lack of speed at slotback (sorry Yocum and Romanelli), I think Romanelli has potential as our go to guy for when the oppossing defense is getting warn down- Yocum was put in on way too many plays and got banged up as a result.. He did a great job, just the coaching needs to rest him more. Romanelli is powerful, Rodgers is quick and pretty strong for his size, Cusack is really fast and has instincts you can't coach.
I expect we will see some new guys in as receivers- the only person I know who has his position cemented is Dominique Johnson.
In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.
Presbyterian has decided to drop ODU for a series with Davidson.
We'll be playing at NC Central instead, who we beat 42-28 last year at home (we were up 28-0 half-way through the 3rd, and then NC Central scored 28 unanswered, until ODU put it away with 14 late in the 4th).
yeah, GWU is going to be tough....I really don't know much about them.
Anyway I'm glad PC dropped us from the schedule or asked for premission from us to drop them. NC Central isnt that much better of an opponent but they're better then PC.

lol PC will come around. they need time to get up to this level but i think theyll come around in the next 5-10 yrs. we played nc central last yr and they were cake. should be easy game for you.

yeah, I was talking next season specifically not where they are overall as a program...I'm sure they'll come around sooner or later. We actually should have blown out NC Central last season but we got complacent in the 2nd half....I think like its already been said we were leading 28-0 at one point and they scored 28 unanswered points to tie it at 28 then as soon as that happened we scored 14 unanswered points to win 42-28. Either way, I think NC Central will be a better opponent.
The thing that jumps out to me is how willing Cal Poly is to travel.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
A lot of ODU fans are excited about having this west coast/east coast matchup (literally). This may be the only western team to travel to Norfolk until 2015 (Montana).
