No worries, most comments here are meant for humor, not personal shots. I served in the Navy for 10+ years, and actually saw some action on the ground in the former Yugoslavia. Nothing like Iraq, I am sure, but can understand and appreciate the committment you have made and are honoring.

Hopefully in the coming years our schools will schedule a H/H in football - we'd sellout both stadiums. Actually took my boy to the ODU-LU basketball game early this year. You guys have great facilities; just have to work around your tailgating restrictions.......

LU is gettn even BETTER facilities. football team has been good last few yrs its our new basketball team that needs work. i think with a couple yrs HOPEFULLY keeping the same HC for basketball theyll get to winning conference championships again so we can go get embarased by number 1 seeds.

You must have bribed the fire marshall to get approval for those huge flame throwers that go off every time you hit a three. Pretty cool.

As I tell my wife often, but similarly applies to your tour of duty assignment. Keep your head down!

If voters in the first regular season poll started from scratch (based on performance) rather than just adjusting their preseason poll (based on expectations), a preseason poll would be okay. Since they don't, a preseason poll builds in bias that keeps teams in the Top 25 all year who shouldn't be there and keeps down other teams because they started with low or no expectations of performing well.

I doubly agree with Ohio Hen. I think I'm one of the rare people that do that. The sad fact of the matter is a lot of voters are lazy and just look at their previous weeks poll & adjust on wins/losses/how they looked. Polls in September should rightfully have wild swings.

Maybe this was thrown out there before, but I just don't want to read 4 pages of thread.....but what about a PreSeason Playoff Predictor instead of a poll?

Pick the 20 teams you think will make the playoffs in 2010.

If....IF...the first poll does not take place until after week three of the season, I could go for that...

I absolutely agree with you.

It will be nothing more than a prediction of the 20 teams most likely to make the playoffs.

Well every year I can remember & I've been around a while there are multiple preseason polls. In addition there are multiple threads as to name the conference winners and/or by conference who will be the playoff teams.

Ok, I understand... :thumb:

I'm just so opposed to pre-season polls, and then in-season polls that start after the first week...they are so bogus...and as others have said MANY times, there is a built in benefit for the top 10 teams...they can lose, and only drop a few positions and are still ranked...a team not in the top ten rarely moves up with a win (unless it's an FBS win)...

A team not highly ranked has a real struggle getting there even with a good season...while a team ranked too early really has to fall flat to fall very far...

Wait until there is some action....judge the teams based on what they have done on the field... :twocents:
