I choose to be an American first, which pisses folks off on either side, but I am a registrated republican, which pisses republicans off. I vote for the best candidate or none at all, and hope that pisses somebody off as well.

Re: Party Affiliation
I've always registered independent. In Alabama if you are a registered Democrat you can only vote in the Democratic primary. If you are registered Republican you can only vote in the Republican primary. If you're independent you can vote in any (but only one). I've been registered in Virginia and North Carolina as well and did the same thing even though their law isn't the same... just out of habit.
I've never voted for a non-Democrat in any election for federal office, however. Only smaller local or state elections.

Some states require that you pick one, otherwise you are unable to vote in a primary.Skjellyfetti wrote:I've always registered independent. And I am exactly the opposite. I've voted democrat once in a national election, and independent twice....lots of dems on my ballot at the local & state level, however.hank scorpio wrote:Independent, but generally vote for democrats as they share the majority of my political/philosophical views. I will vote for republicans, but mostly at a local government level.

Re: Party Affiliation
I've been a registered Elephant since about the mid-90s when I noticed that the Donkeys were getting a LONG way away from my views. Early on, I was probably crazier than I am now. Before I was old enough to vote, I was wearing homemade Ollie for President badges to summer school during the Iran-Contra hearings but also put up pro-Jesse posters on my front door. Wouldn't do that now. In '92 (my first Presidential campaign), I wrote in a ticket of Carter-Brown so I could have a geographically balanced ticket. (I couldn't stand Clinton, but I hadn't quite come over to the Elephants yet, particularly since I was still upset about the whole "Read My Lips" thing.) Then I found out how nuts Brown is. He's DEFINITELY not getting my vote for Governor. So I've been pretty much down-the-line GOP (unless something specific to the campaign tells me otherwise) until 2008, when I got in trouble with my Elephant buddies for actively campaigning for a Demo for State Assembly. Well, I'm sorry if you're offended, but I hold friendship, particularly lifelong friendship, over politics any day of the week, particularly when the Elephant in the race is a pathological liar (even if he IS my hometown's sacred cow).

Registered Liberterian, but not beholden to any party so i identified as Indy....keep my registration is Liberterian as i want a third party to have as many registered voters as possible so more people can get on statewide ballot....but as more TeaBaggers identify as "Liberterian"...well, let's just say my desire for third party representation has it's limits as far as painting me as a teabagger by association....

Seems that NOBODY wants to be identified as a democrat.

I wouldn't either, with that shitpile of "leaders" runnin' this country into the ground.

Independent.
Pro-choice.
Pro-marijuana legalization.
I believe in man's contribution to climate change and that we should do what we can to curb those effects.
I think it is OK for a company to have to give up a little profit in order to protect the planet.
I don't think profit is always good.
I think that most corporations would turn us all into dog food if they thought they could make a buck and wouldn't shed a fucking tear over it.
I also think the average citizen of this planet is a fucking moron and probably would serve the world better as a can of dogfood than their current worthless existence.
I give 15% of my annual income to charitable organizations that aid the poor, but only those that do so in the U.S., cause everybody seems so damn worried about the poor little starving children in Africa, but have you been to southeastern Kentucky lately? OMFG!! So, fuck the little African kid, I take care of those at home first.
While I believe it is the responsibility of society to take care of the less fortunate, and I give both money and volunteer time to that end, if you are a healthy human with an able mind and body and you are sitting your ass at home collecting a check because your momma, and her momma, and so on did it, and you are just too fucking lazy and sorry to contribute to society because you think the world owes you something becasue of some injustice that happened to one of your distant ancestors? Well, there are lots of hungry dogs in the world.
I believe that capitalism is still the best of lots of bad choices, but needs to be regulated to protect us from ourselves.
I also firmly believe that the best thing that could probably happen for this planet is for a virus with a 100% mortality rate to come along and wipe out our sorry overconsuming asses. We are a curse and as a species suck. But you don't see me signing up to be the first one to go to the dogfood factory, so I guess I'm one of the scummy asshole humans ruining this miracle we call a planet, and am just as guilty as the rest of you fucktards, and should shut my piehole.

Are you kidding me? I'd take an F-150, Titan, or Tundra over a Dodge any day of the week. If I needed a 3/4 ton, it would be the F-250 over the Dodge 2500 hands down.
