I like this league. Some of the programs are full of themselves, but there is nothing like being the biggest draw in the conference. NDSU didn't get that way by having an average program. Success in college football is cyclical mixed with a little luck. It will be our turn again soon enough.

I had a lot of fun at UNI a couple yrs ago. Guess I was lucky enough to not meet some of you. We also had a great time in Ames. Ill be in Lawrence for the KU game this season. Otherwise its going to be all on the internet.

SIU under Lennon will be a competitive program but they will not rise to level of a national championship. Like UNI they will be an important stepping stone. The MVFC is going to be shaken up over the next few years and SDSU was the first school to put the league on notice.

I just want to be sedated!

UNI football was not.

Funny how excited UNI fans got about a win over a garbage program a few years ago.
Besides the fact that you completely missed the point of my post, what's fucking knew Jay no paying attention and only trying to make some anti-uni fan or terrible joke.

My point was that even a fucking garbage program can draw well. If you would pull your head out of your fucking ass you could understand that too....it had ZERO to do with out win in 2007
You chose to make your point in response to what JBB and others said about attendance, even though THEIR points had nothing to do with Iowa State.

I chose to make MY point about the inconsitency of logic of calling Iowa State a "garbage program" when it suits you, but yet praising UNI's victory over them as being a great win, even though you can't get a "great win" over a "garbage program".

Your point would make sense if UNI and Iowa State were in the same division. But one is a BCS school from the big 12, and the other one is a FCS program. So, your point makes zero sense.

Iowa State is a garbage program. Going 6-6 in the regular season, and winning some 3rd tier bowl game doesn't move you from that after years of being crap. Iowa State is 487-583-46 in their programs history. They have only been ranked three times in their history, 1971, 1976 and 2000. Never above 17. Oh, and the only other thing they have done three time in their history...win a bowl game. They are 3-7. They have been a sub .500 team 68 times in their history, which gives them only 41 winning seasons. Looking for a 10 win season? Don't look in Ames, they have never had one. Hell, they have only won 9 games twice in school history, 2000 and 19 fucking 06. They have been outscore by nearly 1300 points in their programs history.

To be fair, this season was a great season by ISU standards after looking at that.

Now tell me Jay, how does that not qualify as a garbage program?

Oh, and anytime an FCS program beats an FBS program it is a big fucking deal. Iowa State spends more on football than we do on our entire fucking athletic department. They have 22 more scholarships than we do, better facilities, bigger boosters to help get better things, more money from their conference tie in, etc...

So yes, even though it pisses you off I'm going to continue to be happy we beat Iowa State in 2007

Call Iowa State anything you want. When I was there and The BISON took the field there were 50,000 fans. That beats the heck out of 7,500 at SIU. Listen, if traffic on an internet site means something traffic at a football stadium is important too.

Playing in front of 18,500 at the Fabulous Fargo Dome and having the entire regions sports eye on the game is a big deal for every program in the MVFC. Its also a big deal for NDSU. It beats the heck out of the old D2 NCC.

PS. Congrats to UNI and their BB team! :thumb:

Agreed.

A good home field advantage can go along way. However, having a lot of people at a game doesn't mean the team will be good.

You are exactly right about that Clenz. Thats what helps make it great. Everybody that came to Fargo last year got some game from the BISON. A lot of good teams with championship aspirations left Fargo glad they won and The BISON were 3-8. Lots of them won, but it wasn't easy and NDSU wasn't that far off. The home field crowd was definitely entertained. If the league wasn't as good as it is the attendance wouldn't be there.

Ive seen the NDSU program rise and fall many times. It looks like its rising again.

There are changes coming to the Valley.

I miss playing the Bison.. that was one of our best games of the year.. Hope to see you guys on the schedule again soon, even though we're in a different conference now.

I still don't like starting off the season with a conference game (or even as the 2nd game of the year, if UNI somehow adjusts things to get a game in the first week).

I wonder why the conference scheduled it that way.

It works both ways, JB; if you were any good more people would show up. There's a lot to do around here.

Put the league on notice that if you're down by 40 to the Jacks, you got 'em right where you want 'em?

The league is a little small for us.

Conservatives say we are 2 years out but I think we blast back next year.

You have a great o line and very little else, barring injuries you' ll finish in the 4-7 range; not what you'd like but better than you've been. You really need to find some speed and athleticism.

i;m not too worried about speed next year, we have plenty of fr and soph who are plenty fast, it's just a matter of being in the right position and not blowing assignments. We will play a lot more cover 2 instead of man coverage, which makes speed less of an issue. our d-cordinator last yr didn't do us any favors playing man to man.

Our biggest 2 areas for concern are going to be safeties (strong and free), and special teams. Our safeties were awful last year. also, our fg kicker was terrible. we play in a frickin dome, we should have one of the best kickers in fcs based on that fact alone.

it will be an interesting year at ndsu. the coaches probably know that if they finish less than .500, they won't be around for 2011.

also, it pains me to say this. i was cheering for uni's bball team against ks. great win.

:thumb: Kansas is only three points away from being 0-3 against the MVC.
