Again, semantics.
WHAT???

It's NOT semantics. There's a significant difference. Attendance should have NOTHING to do with a school's bid. If they want a home game, buy it...just like everyone else does.

They may not be as attainable for some if the fans don't go and support the teams and the schools are not willing to place the bids then they are putting themselves at a distinct disadvantage. The rules are however the same for all and all know how it is done. It can't be helped that this thing has to support itself with money a little bit.
Semantics and we're really heading down a different path here. Look, UD is in the exact same boat as Montana as getting preferential treatment, so you and I are on the same side on this one. But the rules were made AFTER the fact really. We used to seed 1 to 16 (there was still a lot of shenanigans even then) but the NCAA decided attendance and bids were more important and that those with highest attendance would get the games.
Yes, and I'm glad you pointed that out that the seeding process was fairly suspect because that has been my argument about seeding for years now. When all the teams were seeded you can take a look at it and see that teams were seeded in a way that provided for every bit as much as regionalization as there is now. Now it is just more honest in the approach.

The NCAA is not into losing their ass so they are gonna tell you what you need to do to have the product and if you can't do it then you gotta play the cards your dealt and hope you pull a river card. The horses paying to keep this tournament alive should be thanked instead of criticized. Without UD, App, Montana, etc...there ain't a lot of revenue to made out there at this point. I give little or no credence to those that hold that viewpoint. That would be like welfare recipients bitching that the rainmakers need to go hang out with them instead of being at their jobs where the revenue comes from.

Now have we gotten this topic sufficiently off track?

Going back to the old AOL or escribe days I predicted a Lehigh first round roadie around 2000-01 when they failed to submit a bid the previous year. I said the NCAA would punish them the next year and low and behold, they were magically the #9 seed even though there were ranked higher.

My point is this: If the school wants a home game, BUY it. That's what the other 4 (non-seeded) teams do. The fact that they can make up most/all of that expense through attendance is irrelevant.

It's really simple: Just put in a higher bid.

Does your credit union tell people that their income and savings don't matter when thinking about how much to spend on a car?

Why do you keep throwing out red herrings?

You want a home game, make a higher bid. It really IS as simple as that.

Don't impugne the Montanas of the world because they have better community support.

Before someone does a math drill on other teams' playoff road records:

2-6 is a 25% win percentage, not 33%.

Like I've said, Montana = Delaware in this discussion. I don't know why it pains you to admit that the schools we cheer for have a COMPLETE and REAL advantage when it comes to home games.

It is also weird that the Big Sky teams, SoCon teams, etc. were seeded in the right places to always get those matchups. W. Kentucky & E. Kentucky also had that fortune. W. Kentucky & W. Ill., the list is pretty long. in one of the few times the BSC got three in two played each other in the first round, and the other played...you guessed it, an SLC team. The seeding process was fantastic for the NCAA.

Having an "advantage" <> "Playing by different rules".

That's all I'm saying. Having FANS---ACTUAL FANS---doesn't make our teams the devil.

The rules were made to give the advantage to the teams with the highest attendance. Argue semantics all you want, you know you're wrong here.

Those are the games that make me laugh off the comments of Delaware as Transfer U. I remember when they were doing player intros on TV for those games and every player on both lines for Marshall were transfers.

This of course doesn't count the 4 NC game losses at a neutral site, nor the 1 NC win at a neutral site.

Explain to me why attendance = bid amount? Why not take a loss to build a team following?

If not, the quit bitching about teams that DO have a following.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH, I see your problem now. You still think I'm picking on Montana or am bitching about it not being fair. For the last time...

DELAWARE RECEIVES THE SAME BENEFIT AT MONTANA. I ENJOY GOING TO HOME PLAYOFF GAMES WHEN THE HENS MAKE THE PLAYOFFS. I DON'T GIVE A RATS ASS ABOUT OTHER TEAMS.

But for you to sit here and tell me the system is fair or the "rules are the same" for everyone is comical.
