Low OOC SOS + Big Sky schedule = a well-rested team and three home playoff games. Of course, this can and does bite you in the ass when you play good competition outside the friendly confines, but that's the tradeoff.
Can't fault a team for wanting to make a lot of money. More power to the Griz.
In other words if for the last seed it comes down to a 10-1 with no I-A and a Div II and a 9-2 with a I-A loss and no Div II, both are 9-1 vs I-AA. Then it comes down to strength of schedule/quality wins.

Funny how the Griz play a weak azz OOC schedule every year and then have no competition in conference play yet continually get to the NC game....guess beating JMU, App, SDSU, etc counts for nothing. You guys sure have selective memoryTribeNomad wrote:93henfan hits in on the head. Montana has a record that no one can deny, and are perennial playoff participants. Like he says the SOS (overall) means a playoff berth, and home games....then challenges in the FCS finals. I think the teams are not used to playing full on for four quarters each week (they do not have to) and this bites them in the end (no pun). I think of the games with JMU, UR & Villanova, those three teams had been far more battle tested week in and week out, and those three just wore UM out.

I think in a sense it says something positive about Montana's program. It says Montana doesn't have to rely on FBS "payday" games. Now, if I were a Montana fan, I'd like to see my team play FBS teams from time to time. But at least it's saying they don't have to.

I'm just wondering how much of a team App will have left after playing Florida at the end of the regular season.
That's making the assumption we'll be a top 20 program this season.

The WAC has a rule against playing down on the road. And Idaho can't pay what the Griz demand to travel. It has nothing to do with Idaho's fortitude.Silenoz wrote:This discussion wouldn't even exist if Idaho would stop being such cowards

Re: Montana to Face ZERO FBS Teams in next 6 years
Maybe they are but if they were so gutless then why were they THE ONLY team that was willing to come and play a home & home with us? Nevada didn't want to do it and I distinctly remember Pokey Allen saying that once they were out of the BSC he was never bring Boise St. back here. Idaho sure didn't have to sign a H&H contract with us but they did because they enjoyed the rivalry much as we did.Silenoz wrote:Oh I'm sure they're grateful for the excuse out of itkemajic wrote: The WAC has a rule against playing down on the road. Nah, just want to make the point that they were willing to play us and on our home field no less when others that surely would have also expected to kick our ass did not want any part of it. Just making the point that Idaho wasn't ducking us out of any fear and are not ducking us now but their conference will not allow them to sign a contract with us for H&H's and they sure as hell can't pay us enough for them not to go in the hole big time in order to play us.Silenoz wrote:Probably because they expected to kick our ass

Speaking of Boise St they're playing VT at Fed Ex in DC on Mon, Sept 6. Both those teams are dark horse NC contenders. That should help JMU getting to play @ VT 5 days later on the 11th...still likely gonna get our azz handed to us.
