I have always been amazed that coach Bohl had ignored this postition for so long. Kicking is so important and I think it was a part of the short sighted thinking that put NDSU in the position of having these past couple of horrid seasons. We will now see if Bohl can dig out of this hole or not. I do think the kicking situation is one that he had to remedy. The horrid kicking of that past couple of seasons could not continue, and the bottom line is that a solid kicker will be key in winning those close contests.

Good news Wyo. Good to see you back on the board.

Cal Poly knows all to well how important a kicker can be. In 2008 if they had a good one they would have gone undefeated in the regular season with wins over both Montana and Wisconsin (kicking cost the Mustangs both of those games). Ellerson never set aside a scholarship in recruiting for a kicker. He did after the 2008 season where he signed an All-State JC kicker. It was his only player he signed though, he left shortly after that for Army prior to the High School signing period.

Coach Walsh just signed a highly regarded high school kicker to a scholarship this last month.
