Obama trying to steal election already

Post by SeattleGriz »

Looks as if Obama can't win the hearts of Americans, he is planning on "creating" at least 10.8 million new voters by getting a bill through before the mid term elections that would make illegals...legal.

:ohno:

Yes, I am being a partisan hack here, but why else would he want it done before midterm elections, other than to pick up Democratic votes?

OR, it's how he finally gets to be a citizen

Obama took up the issue privately with his staff Monday in a bid to advance a bill through Congress before lawmakers become too distracted by approaching midterm elections.

In the session, Obama and members of his Domestic Policy Council outlined ways to resuscitate the effort in a White House meeting with two senators -- Democrat Charles E. Schumer of New York and Republican Lindsey Graham of South Carolina -- who have spent months trying to craft a bill.

According to a person familiar with the meeting, the White House may ask Schumer and Graham to at least produce a blueprint that could be turned into legislative language.

The basis of a bill would include a path toward citizenship for the 10.8 million people living in the U.S. illegally. Citizenship would not be granted lightly, the White House said. Undocumented workers would need to register, pay taxes and pay a penalty for violating the law. Failure to comply might result in deportation.

This would provide a PATH to citizenship. Not automatic citizenship.

I realize that it is a PATH and people MIGHT be deported. With that being said, do you really think if an illegal doesn't pay the penalty for violating the law they will be deported and denied citizenship? As for paying taxes, you can't tax someone who has only JUST become a citizen can you? So, that only really leaves one requirement to be eligible to vote - register.

I have no issue with providing a path to citizenship with the listed caveats, but find the timing very beneficial to Obama. Even if it doesn't work out that all 10.8 million become eligible to vote, he is still trying to sway their vote to the Democratic side.

That's the way politics work. Both parties try and do things that are beneficial to them.

At some point, the "illegals" in this country will have to become "legal". The part left is deciding exactly how we do that. No one's ever going to be able to deport 5 million or 10 million or whatever the number is, so they're here to stay. If Obama is able to come up with and implement the plan on how to do that, and if those who then become "legal" decide to vote Democratic as a way of expressing gratitude for doing so, I've got no problem with it. A Republican President could do the very same thing and I wouldn't have a problem with that either. As long as there are steps to take and penalties to be paid (monetarily and non-monetarily), then I see no absolute quid pro quo. Somebody is going to be President when it happens.

The thing is we could, but because of too many spineless people in the country, we won't.

Tried amnesty in 88', and it didn't work. 3 million got amnesty, most became citizens, and were able to sponsor several million more family members. Add on their kids, and you're probably talking closer to 10 million people.

Now Obama wants to do that on a scale 4x as large (gov't #s are over 12 million illegals, with some estimates as high as 20 million)

And 20 years from now we'll have another 10-20 million illegals and we'll be right back in the same boat we are now. :ohno:

You really think it's a good idea to try to deport 10 million people? Separate illegal parents from children born in the US? And it's "spineless" for people to be afraid of what the image of deportation detention camps, deportation police sweeps, and people being herded onto planes or boats or whatever we use to move these 10 Million people or more? I recognize you may indeed not have a heart in your body, but a lot of people do and I'm pretty sure it would be a huge social upheaval in this country if we really went ahead and tried to forcibly deport 10 Million people (or what's most likely even more than that). There's a difference between "spineless" and being human.

As for "not working last time" - granting people amnesty did work - those who were illegal became legal. If we want to stop illegal immigration, well that's an entirely different thing altogether.

Yes its a good idea to deport 20 million people if they are here illegally.

why can't you? legal residents who arent yet citizens pay taxes. Why wouldn't newly minted citizens have to pay taxes? Doesn't matter who you are. If you hold a legal job in the United States you are required to pay taxes.

I've pretty much given up with the illegal alien issue. Social Security and Medicare are accelerating towards a cliff and because our birth rates have been below replacement levels for so long (thanks to lies about overpopulation) and we need immigrants to become workers so we won't be looking at a 1.8:1 worker to retiree ratio in about 20 years.

Besides, if we don't educate the children of all of these illegals they'll either become criminals or supporters of uber-left "social justice" donks.

"Failure to comply might result in deportation."

How about "Being in America illegally will lead to deportation?" Can we try that out?

We need to have a mechanism and the resources for actually enforcing existing immigration laws before we give a bye to the people already here. Otherwise, there will be a whole new 10 million person batch of illegals to replace the amnestied ones within a couple years.

In regards to those anchor babies. If their parents are illegal and are deported and the children have no one else in US legally who can act as legal guardians, the children can be deported with their parents and then the kids can return to the US when they're 18. And that gets me started on the whole citizenship clause of the 14th Amendment- when Congress passed the 14th it was to deal with the freed slaves. It was never their intent that anchor babies automatically be US citizens. And the Supreme Court has never ruled on whether children born to illegals are granted birthright citizenship via the 14th Amendment (something that isn't done in Europe, Asia, most of the rest of the World). Its just been assumed that it does. Its a load of crap that a pregnant woman can walk across the border, have her kid courtesy of the US taxpayers, and if she does get deported along with the baby 18 years later the kid now all grown up can return to the US on his own a citizen and sponsor other family members.

And before we can even think about any type of immigration reform, we need to get control of our borders. Otherwise, as I said before, out of 12-20 million or whatever it is illegals now, all we'll get is amnesty for upwards of 10 million (make it 20-30 million people once you add on kids and sponsored family) and another 20 million illegals in the next 20 years.

The main problem with the worker to retiree ratio isn't fertility rate, its people living longer. As far as 1.8 workers to retiree or whatever, its obvious the retirement age is too low. When Social Security was created in the 30s the avg life expectancy was 63. Now the avg life expectancy has gone up to about 78, while full social security retirement has only gone up 2 years to 67 (for those of us under 51).

As I said pointed out:
-the retirement age is too low.
-they can't keep on raising FICA taxes. They started out at 1% each to be played by employee and employer. Its since been raise 13 times to the current 7.65% each/15.3% total.
-You have benefits that rise faster than inflation.
-You have people who are able to draw out far more than they (and their employee) and their spouse pay in

So of course Social security is headed towards a cliff. Its a govt created ponzi scheme. Most Ponzi schemes eventually collapse. If someone in the private sector set up something like social security, they'd go to jail. :ohno:

Today it was announced that unemployment was about 15 million.

Get rid of the illegals and 12-20 million jobs open up.

2 problems are fixed and upwards of 20 million jobs are created in a few months.

Think of all those taxes that can be paid when people have jobs.
