Not true according to hotel.com:
1 hotel, Comfort Inn Suites, 400 yards from Frisco Park. And I just plugged in 1/6/11-1/9/11, and its sold out already.
11 hotels within 5 miles.
44 hotels within 10 miles.
Pizza Hut Park says a doz hotels within 13 miles? Hotels.com lists 92.
Sounds like hotels ain't gonna be a problem.

Hotels.com is notariously inaccurate, in terms of describing the distance of hotels from various things. The Pizza Hit Park website would likely be much more accurate. Again, on the closest hotel according to the Pizza Hut Park webiste: "Comfort Suites
9700 Dallas Parkway
Frisco, TX 75034
Call 972-668-9700
Distance: .79 Miles"
The stadium is located on 140 acres. The address is presumably for the park, not the stadium. Thus, the hotel.com distances are likely skewed a bit. Even on hotels.com, the next closest hotel is 3.5 miles away.
Maybe you are okay with staying 14 miles from the venue, but I'm not.
Anyway, the gripe isn't just with the distance; it's with the lack of concentration of hotels. Obviously, the Dallas area has enough hotels to accommodate the championship game. No one has ever questioned that.
It looks like there are about a half dozen hotels near the mall at the corner of the freeway and a major highway. That's probably the best concentration in the area.
BS. Pizza Hut Park probably just picked a doz to list. There's no way that there are just a doz hotels within 13 miles when hotels.com shows 92 and Frisco is in the 4th largest metro area in the country.

Even if hotels.com was off by an avg of a mile or so for every hotel there is still probably around 90 hotels within 13 miles, because some hotels that they are showing might be further, but other hotels that they show as a little further might be closer. And I'm not going to mapquest 92 hotels to prove my point.
Travelocity also shows 11 hotels within 5 miles and 33 within 10 miles (to 42 for hotels.com). And they list the distances down to the one hundrenth of a mile.

But wait, let me guess, you are going to say Travelocity is notoriously inaccurate too.
Saying you'll have to stay 14 miles away is retarded. If JMU makes it again I'll be staying at one of those 11 hotels listed within 5 miles, be they 3,4,5,6, miles away. I'll get there the night or 2 before. I'll meet up with JMU fans. The day of the game I'll drive to the stadium, tailgate all day, go to the game, and then go back to my hotel or watering hole where JMU fans are at. I won't care if I'm staying a measly 3,4,5,6 miles from the stadium.
