Portland State's 2010 football schedule
Just announced today...
www.oregonlive.com/vikings/
Three road games to start, trips to Pac-10 Arizona State and Oregon sandwiched around a trip to Davis. Four home games that will be played at Hillsboro Stadium as PGE Park is getting renovated for the wonderful world of soccer. Playing in Hillsboro means I won't have to take the train in as the kid's high school plays at Hillsboro Stadium. At least the Griz are coming to town, gives me something to look forward to. Also, my season tickets include a ticket to the Duck game, I guess a road "home" game.
Don't expect too much from us with this schedule. Obviously we knew we'd be in Hillsboro so we basically sold the season out in order to gain some cash.

Rough start. Also noticed PSU doesn't have a bye. That's a tough break.

Two trips to Arizona - only four home games. Rough schedule.

Re: Portland State's 2010 football schedule
That’s a rough schedule. PSU is doing the same thing that ISU has been doing. All the FCS schools are selling them selves for cash. ISU played Arizona St. and Oklahoma last year and get to play Georgia this year. Look at it this way PSU will get some extra TV time and it could help recruiting. I am going to try and make the PSU ISU game how are the facilities at Hillsboro Stadium.JALMOND wrote:Just announced today...

Depends on the layout. If they put bleachers on the other side (on the softball diamonds on the east side), they say they can hold 12,000. Without them, I don't think it can hold 10,000.dbackjon wrote:How many does Hillsboro hold?

Re: Portland State's 2010 football schedule
Hillsboro is good for a high school stadium, they do host high school playoffs and championships there. We played there the last time PGE Park was renovated (our only playoff appearance was that year). Not being sarcastic, but it will probably be the worst venue in the Big Sky next year, as it is still a high school stadium. It is practically in my back yard so any one need help with recommendations on hotels and restaurants, let me know. Talk is that we will be back at PGE Park in 2011.Sapper wrote:That’s a rough schedule. PSU is doing the same thing that ISU has been doing. All the FCS schools are selling them selves for cash. I'm holding off speculating until spring ball. Too many question marks to even make a guess at this point.AZGrizFan wrote:2-9.dbackjon wrote:Sept. 4 at Arizona State 7 p.m.

So when Montana comes to town, where are the PSU fans going to sit???JALMOND wrote:Depends on the layout. Re: Portland State's 2010 football schedule
I think this will be a better stadium to play then PGE park, at least at Hillsboro it will look like they have more then a few hundred fans at the game
, but PSU really needs to get their own stadium so they dont have to do this find a home game

If my wife and me move out to Portland (which might happen this summer) I'll be a regular at PGE Park. They'll be my second favorite Big Sky team.

Re: Portland State's 2010 football schedule
One thing about Hillsboro Stadium is that it is 18 miles from PSU's campus (18 miles from downtown Portland). Quite a ways to go for an urban campus. Also it is not close to the MAX train line either. A few years back when we did play at Hillsboro, there was not much of a turnout from the PSU student body.
Looked it up, Hillsboro Stadium holds 7000 without the bleachers on the softball fields. Also the city of Hillsboro has taken away some parking places in the last few years and added more softball fields. Not sure what the seating configurations will be, nor what they will do in regards to parking/tailgating. Remains to be seen.

If I come up for the UNC game, who's gonna take me to Edgefield to have great food and beer?
