You are correct I should have done more research. MSU has had a tuff schedule. A lot tougher than Montana. And I still think that the big sky will look like this.

I saw a young ISU team that is starting to put things together almost pull off the biggest upset in FCS history. I think you should go look at ISU’s recruiting list for this year and be very afraid. ISU signed on of the fastest backs in collage football he runs a 4.26 40 I got ten that says ISU beats Montana this year.
when is the last time Montana played a FBS top 10?
I'll take that bet. Course, you'll be long gone before that game is played so I hardly expect to get paid.
Perhaps YOU should go look at who the Griz signed.
We ARE talking about the FOOTBALL game, right?

Trying to clear up some things, obviously I am late with some of these, but to get back on topic...
Portland State originally was slated to face Arizona State this year as initiated by Glanville when he first arrived (Wazzu in 2008, Beavs in 2009, ASU in 2010). Last year Oregon had a game open up this season (2010) and, as agreed to in our charter when we first moved to 1-AA/FCS, we had first shot at it and took it. ASU agreed to move our game with them to 2011.
Speculating now but I think ASU's opponent, San Jose State, reneged on their game, leaving the Sun Devils out. Our game this year with the Ducks was to be the season opener and we were hoping to get a DII for the third game. From what I gathered, ASU approached us with the idea of going back to the original contract, sweetened up a little, and playing this year. Oregon had an open date the third week so we moved the Duck game there and rescheduled the Sun Devils. We lose a home game with a DII, but we get money from both ASU and Oregon. There is some talk that we might try to get out of the Duck game and get a home game, but I'd rather take the money and play at Autzen. This year will be a transition year for us anyway. We will take BYU's place at Washington in 2012, that is confirmed.

I'm not sure, but wasn't that game the largest payout to an FCS team ($750,000)?

That's because after losing to Chadron State, the powers-that-be at Moo U decided "hey, if we're going to start LOSING these games, we might as well get PAID for them."
Go ahead, keep prostituting your crappy-ass program out to make a few bucks. We'll keep winning the BSC and going to the playoffs every year.

And even MORE coincidentally, 2006 was also the year that Montana's budget deficit was finally behind them. And being one of about 5 FCS programs that actually MAKES money, we don't need to go down that road again.
Unlike the sCats.

I think you're within $100,000, as I recall it was $650,000, same as the Cats got for playing Michigan St. last year.

Hey Z, I think this guy is saying Montana never plays FBS teams. Get him!
Knowing your betting track record, generally I'd think picking against you is the correct choice, but I don't believe a 1-10 team who has accumulated 7 total wins over the past four seasons will stand much of a chance against the Griz at the Griz....

I think most Griz fans (myself included) would 100% agree with you. However, I don't think Idaho will ever let it happen....apparently they got tired of losing to an "inferior" program. And, now that they've achieved some level of success by winning a bowl game, I don't see them adding a tough FCS game to their schedule. What would be in it for them? Also, Montana would almost assuredly insist on a home and home arrangement and I don't see Idaho agreeing to travel to Missoula anytime soon.

And I still say you need to put down the crack pipe . Montana has lost plenty of seniors and a few coaches over the last 20 years and they always manage to reload. After seeing the job Pflugrad did with a shortened recruiting season, I see no reason to believe that that will change.

1. I'll take that bet. When I win you can go ahead and put the $10 into a "donate to CS.com" fund.
2. I can't believe the fan of a team that routinely loses to FBS teams by 50+ is trying to trash a team that is 5-5 in their last 10 FBS games.
3. I think you're putting way too weight into last year's game. We played our worst game in 10 years, and STILL won, on the road. What makes you think you'll beat us at home, when our entire staff and team is going to have last year's game fresh on their minds? We'd have to play our worst game in 10 years, again, only worse. Not to mention that the same ISU team lost to a DII and got blown out by Northern Colorado. UM went on to finish 14-1 and a championship berth. You tell me if that game was a fluke or not.
