In all fairness, U of Washington was one of only three programs to have never scheduled an FCS team until now, and they usually have a fairly tough OOC schedule.
Do you have a reference for this (cancelling the BYU contract), cause I haven't seen this anywhere.

Says a fan of the team that lost to D-II Chadron St. in 2006 and UNC a couple years ago? When you're at the bottom of the shitpile (like the sCats) EVERY TEAM is a challenge. The Griz don't have that problem. ASU is much like the sCats....forever trying to BUILD a winner.

I first read about it on a Seattle Times blog about UW football and haven't heard much about it since then, but as you can see, it is a done deal.

http://dailyuw.com/2009/10/7/schedule-c ... -football/
Those resentful of Washington’s difficult non-conference football schedules the past few seasons received good news on Tuesday.

The school announced some changes in its future schedules, including the removal of a home-and-away series against BYU that was slated for 2011 and 2012. The Huskies will instead play Eastern Washington in 2011 and are still searching for an opponent to replace BYU in the 2012 game. UW was scheduled to play only five home games in 2012 before yesterday’s announcement.

The game against Eastern will mark the first time the Huskies have ever played against a lower-division school. Notre Dame, USC and UCLA are the only other schools in the country that have never faced a non-Division-1 school.

That's because after losing to Chadron State, the powers-that-be at Moo U decided "hey, if we're going to start LOSING these games, we might as well get PAID for them."

Go ahead, keep prostituting your crappy-ass program out to make a few bucks. We'll keep winning the BSC and going to the playoffs every year. :thumb:

It's funny this thread should come from a Montana fan.. seeing as how they never take the risk to schedule FBS teams.

Well, lets put it this way: This would be the equivalent of Montana scheduling Cal Poly AND UC Davis in the same year.

Oh.

Yes, I REALIZE Montana doesn't schedule FBS. However, we also don't schedule TWO D-II teams in a year either. THAT would be the equivalent of what ASU has done.... :thumb:

And no, for the sake of SUUTBird's sanity, I won't go into a discourse about why Montana chooses not to schedule FBS teams... :coffee:

There's no way in HELL ASU would schedule Montana. They have an in-state body bag game, and NAU comes to the whippin' post a LOT cheaper.

Spanos, since you are so into "facts", I assume you'd like to know, for future reference, that in the past 11 years, Montana has played 8 I-A games: Iowa, Oregon, Hawaii and Idaho (5 times).

I think it would be rather cool if you guys played Idaho again and started up that rivalry once more, since i have to say it would be a much better game then Western State :twocents:

Actually the Cats started scheduling DIA games long prior to 2006 and in fact beat Colorado on the road the week prior to losing to Chadron. Coincidentally, 2006 was also the last year dUMb scheduled a DIA school after getting their asses handed to them 41-7 at Iowa.

Well, not to bring up 2008 again, but we put more yards on Wisconsin than any FBS team.

Montana always has the weakest schedule in the Big Sky and never plays FBS. NAU almost beat ASU a couple of years ago and is usually pretty decent. ISU is the only team in the big sky that plays big teams on a regular bases in the last 7 years. ISU has played Boise (2 times), Idaho (2 times), UNLV, San Diego, Utah State, Oregon State, Arizona State, Kentucky, Oklahoma and George this year. Montana is going to have a rebuild year and will probably finish 3 or 4 in the conference behind MSU and Webber. After the dismal showing of Montana in Pocatello last year against ISU I was not impressed. Montana beat them with a last sec field goal 12-10 and lots of help from the refs. I suspect Montana will have problems. ISU will be the dark horse.

Go Bengals.

a) that "close" NAU/ASU game was 31-0 at halftime.
b) 8 games in last 11 years by UM. That's a pretty "regular basis".
c) With your last 4 sentences you have now lost any semblance of credibility you might have had on this board.

Montana has lost there coach and 19 starters this is going to be a long year for them. There dominance in the Sky is over. I was at the Montana ISU game Montana got stuffed. I saw a young ISU team that is starting to put things together almost pull off the biggest upset in FCS history. I think you should go look at ISU’s recruiting list for this year and be very afraid. ISU signed on of the fastest backs in collage football he runs a 4.26 40 I got ten that says ISU beats Montana this year.

when is the last time Montana played a FBS top 10?

Another poster who can't read. It was already posted that Montana played 8 I-A games in the past 11 years, and then this joker says Montana "never" plays FCS.

Are you touting ISU's combined losses to its FBS schools last season by total of 114 - 3? Those must have been fun and rewarding games for your players and fans. What a joke.

You are the king is misinformation. Montana didn't lose 19 starters. It didn't even have 19 seniors on the team, to my recollection.

UM played 10-2 Oregon in 2005. After a bowl loss to Oklahoma, in which qb Kellen Clemens didn't play, Oregon dropped to no. 10 in the polls. Oregon's other loss that year was to no. 1 USC. UM also played no. 16 Iowa in 2006.

Excuse me suppose to say seniors not starters ESPN team roster lists 19 seniors. 2006 was the last time Montana played a FBS school that’s pretty regular for Montana.
