"In addition to the 23 who inked their letters Wednesday, head coach Bill Curry's program has also added six transfers who are already enrolled this semester for a total class of 29. This year's group marks the program's second recruiting class, which joins the 70 players, including scholarship athletes and walk-ons, who have been on campus since August."

Do the GSU folks know how many of the high school kids signed for the first two classes are partial scholarships? Weren't there around 28 high school signees last year? There must be quite a few partials, or GSU may run into the problem CCU did with overloading their scholarships early on, and seeing a big dropoff when their first two classes finished their eligibility. I assume Curry has a plan for this, which makes me think alot of partials.

I don't have a number - but it is possible that many of the GA highschool kids will get partials if they have B averages due to the GA HOPE scholarship ( See: http://www.gacollege411.org/Financial_A ... rview.aspx ). So the HOPE scholarship will cover the tuition and most fees. Also Curry targeted more JUCOs and transfers this time around to help balance the classes.

Curry's statements in the AJC:
The class includes 10 junior college transfers and one four-year
transfer (Jocquez Fears from Northeastern) as the Panthers looked to add
experience for their first season.

“Bringing in junior college players this year was important for two
reasons,” said Curry. “Number one is obvious – we needed to add some
experience so we are not running on the field with all freshmen and
redshirt freshmen.

“Number two, we needed to balance our roster so that all of
scholarships are not in one or two classes.”
