BTW, I know there are many who believe that the essence of life is passing through the vaginal canal, but that's for another thread. (see, there's levity)
And is there anyone who really believes the government has the right to invade the privacy of a woman's body? Pretty ironic that "stay out of my life" conks seem to want some sort of fetus-Gestapo running around invading abortion clinics. :coffee:

Abortion will also be relatively non existent in the future as contraception becomes more available, more convenient and more effective. Women are taking shit that causes them to have a couple periods a year. The morning after pill is a trip to the drugstore away for any chick over the age of 17.

Joltin Joke can moralize all he wants and fallaciously claim that women are all of a sudden realizing the "wisdom" of the catholics, or that life is so fucking precious, but the reality is birth control, chemistry, medicine, big pharma and demand from women are driving the concept of abortion into the past, not catholic or pro life dogma.

God bless abortion.

Poverty, suffering, lost potential, disempowerment and reliance on men and government, depression, loss of education and quality of life.... 9 months of discomfort, horrendous pain of child birth thanks to your fucking god...
Those are all reasons enough for me to do it.

Let me put it this way: if I were to become pregnant, and for some reason couldn't get an abortion, I'd try to induce one myself. Failing that, suicide (or at least I would seriously consider it).

It would help immensely if doctors would take women under 30 seriously when they say they want to be permanently sterilized instead of waving them off and saying, "oh, you'll change your mind!" BULLSHIT. I'm capable of making all the other decisions in my life, who are you to tell me I can't?

You know you don't want a child and am sure you take sensible precautions to prevent a pregnancy. My biggest bitch in this whole argument is that there are plenty of lazy assholes who don't take precaution, knowing they can just get an abortion. While I understand it is up to each persons perspective as to when life begins, at least save yourself the time and the money by not getting pregnant in the first place. Not to mention the link they are starting to discover with women who abort and the increased chance of breast cancer.

My wife and I used the rhythm method for 8 years before we decided to have children and it worked perfectly. We didn't use any contraception because if she got pregnant by accident, we were ready for that. When we really wanted kids, we just had sex on the days we normally didn't. BAM! Done.

And yes, I do know the old joke about what do you call a woman who practices the rhythm method...mother.

The problem then lies in the situation I posed above--when you've got people wanting to take steps to permanently sterilize themselves, but being poo-poohed by doctors, you've got a big fucking problem.

I'm on the Pill--take it religiously at 7 every night--but I wouldn't even hesitate a split second if for some unfathomable reason I got pregnant. No fucking way am I going to let some uterine parasite kick back and take up residence in my body.

Women can take precautions and still get pregnant. The only 100% effective is abstinence.

A fetus is not a person. A fetus is an invading parasite and women have the right to remove it from their ovaries. Simple.

That has got to one of the harshest, but yet, funniest things I have heard in a while. :thumb:

Like I said, you know you don't want a child and you take precaution. In your case, lets just hope they come out with a more permanent solution for contraception.

By the way, have you ever thought maybe your provider is scared to death of getting sued if he does sterilize you and you come back saying he didn't counsel you enough? The way jury's are today, you whip up some fake tears, talk about how he took advantage of your naivety and how you will never ever be able to have children again. Jury's love to stick it to doctors.

You're right SG. That doctor made the right decision.

At this point, I am only addressing the lazy ones who don't use any contraception, or the withdrawal method. Some of the irresponsible don't know for 4-8 weeks, and then take a couple more to see an abortionist. Then we are right at that point of the being able to see a fully formed baby.

Just spitballin' here.

Yeah. Because I'm soooooooooooooooooo going to change my mind when I called it a uterine parasite, aren't I? (and I meant it.)

Sterilization IS A PERMANENT SOLUTION FOR CONTRACEPTION. And FFS, I'm 30. I could see where a doc might be skeptical if I was 20 or something. But by 30, I've got it figured out.

Hey, I have no issue with your stand and in fact applaud you for knowing exactly what you want. Just trying to point out it might not be that the doctor doesn't want to help you, he/she just knows they would be screwed if you came back and presented the scenario I did.

Why do you think doctors order the latest and greatest in technologies even when a standard test will work? They are afraid a jury will believe they didn't do everything in their power to diagnose or treat you. SUED!

Abortion certainly is a gray area where libertarians are concerned, because it does infringe on the right of the unborn.

No, she'll tell us all about it and then I swear on her infertility, that I will print off every post of her's and supply them to the court as proof to the contrary.
