PFL to grow again?

While the Patriot League questions it future and viability, the PFL may be poised for yet more expansion. If Cleveland State comes on board, can UDM, (Detroit Mercy), be far behind?

Having CSU in the league would be great for my Flyers, (for the most part). It would be another bus trip on the positive side, but we do recruit heavily in the Cleveland area, so it may be more difficult to land kids that would have a local option....

Awesome!! Always good to see the FCS grow. What are the chances we see some non-scholly teams out west in the future?

If not, I still think USD needs to jump on the scholly bandwagon.

I also think if more Midwest programs continue to be added Marist might need to find a new home in the NEC or the PL.

What does the PL have to do with the PFL in this context? ZERO. You think the PL is thinking about Cleveland State and UDM? I doubt the PL even has heard of Cleveland State and UDM.

I know-- in a way I am disagreeing with what you put in Flyers mouth as if Flyer said it-- I do this because I also agree that is what flyer would say.

It might be possible that I was throwing just a little dig towards my Patriot League friends.... Do you really think that Cleveland State is not Patriot League material? (Man, sometimes it is just too easy....). I do find it amusing that many Patriot League fans seem to be frustrated that they are not as competitive with State U as they would like to be.... The holy grail, so to speak, is the almighty athletic scholarship! It will be interesting to watch the PFL over the next 10 years, especially if the league garners an automatic bid to the playoffs. I mean at worst case we go 0-fer for a long time like some other FCS leagues that shall remain nameless, (I can only agitate so many leagues at a time). Best case we win a game or two, or maybe even have a Colgate like season....

I think it's a good move for Cleveland State and UDM to join the PFL. Sounds promising for the midwest.

Are any of these newbies starting football a done deal? When Colgate made the title game a few years ago did they just have an awesome team or was the PL structured differently back then as in more than just grant aide? I've said many times if the PL adds anyone (which I hope) they should get Marist as a full member along with VMI.

Watched a Mercer U game on tv last night here in atlanta. their AD was discussing adding Non-scholley football. my guess would be PFL. that school is loaded. about 2 hours south from me. tons of money, small, great academics. would be a good fit. IMO.

Thanks for the update on the Raiders club team. I think they are in the same boat as Xavier. There is some desire there, but no institutional support to move to the "next level". It sure would be sweet for the Flyers to have another FCS team right in town. Imagine if Xavier also signed up.... It has been a big struggle to get these schools considering non-athletic scholarship, FCS football off of the pot so to speak. Remember Patty V's "summit" a few years back? Many attended, but little to no action came out of the effort. As has been mentioned before, maybe the A-Sun starts a PFL type league and maybe more midwest teams sign up for the PFL to fill the void left by the departures of Davidson, JU, maybe Morehead State, and Campbell to the new league. I sure would like to see it happen. We need more teams playing FCS football! Still, I have learned to take a Missouri type of approach, "SHOW ME!" and then I'll get excited.

The PL wants nothing to do with VMI. Is Marist an uppidy academic college?
