I hate this schedule.
Re: UNI 2010 Schedule
It looks like we have a week 1 bye, start conference play right out of the gate then go to two OOC games, and we only have five home games.dbackjon wrote:Why?pantherrob82 wrote:I hate this schedule.
Curious Jon, who do you see us losing too? Not that I couldn't see an 8-3, but just wondering who you have us losing too.

Very odd to me to see conference games right off the bat. I've seen that twice now.

From what I've saw it looks like UNI is doing it in 2011 as well opening at Illinois Statedanefan wrote:Very odd to me to see conference games right off the bat. I've seen that twice now.

Re: UNI 2010 Schedule
I'm not sure it's a matter of picking a single other team that UNI might lose to but more a matter of predicting that they will lose a game they are expected to win. Of course, using the same logic it's completely possible that UNI could beat the CyClowns and/or SIU.clenz wrote:It looks like we have a week 1 bye, start conference play right out of the gate then go to two OOC games, and we only have five home games.dbackjon wrote: Why?

It will probably be difficult for MAQA yahoos to overcome the Qult programming but they should give being rational & reasonable a try.

Re: UNI 2010 Schedule
No doubt. I would complain about the MVFC on this matter, but according to their conference policies, the only way that a conference game gets scheduled in the first three weeks of the season is if both teams agree to the change. So either both UNI and NDSU agreed to this, or the conference is ignoring it's own policies (which does happen sometimes).danefan wrote:Very odd to me to see conference games right off the bat. Either way, I don't like it.
4.3.2 Scheduling Principles. The conference schedule will incorporate the following scheduling principles:
a. The first three weeks of the season will be open to schedule nonconference opponents.
b. Conference games will be scheduled the following nine consecutive Saturdays with a bye week for each team within the conference schedule.
4.3.3 Schedule Changes. Teams have the flexibility to make changes by mutual agreement and with written notification to the conference office. If mutual agreement cannot be reached by the two teams involved, the conference schedule will prevail.

Looks like the Misery St and Rubberneck games are my best chances to go to a game after my kids soccer season ends. Don't think I've been to a game in beautiful Macomb since 1987.clenz wrote:Sept 11- vs. NDSU

I am sniffing a loss @ YSU. We got a new coach and so far, much stronger recruits. No more 0-9 Heacock to lose to UNI once again!

2 from the following five:
Southern Illinois
Youngstown State
Illinois State
Stephen F. Austin
South Dakota State
UNI did not show that they are the type of team to run the table without a loss or two last year.
That being said, 9-2 is not out of the realm of possibility, but I think the road games at SIU and YSU will be losses.

I think we have a really young team next year, and it could be a tough year, but to say that last year "proved we couldn't run the table" is silly. Every year is different.
And we haven't lost to YSU in a decade, so untill they actually beat us, I'm not counting on us losing that game...

Re: UNI 2010 Schedule
Actually in 2007 UNI demonstrated that they could run the conference table (as SIU did in 2009). But that is the exception rather than the rule. The Valley is a tough conference and UNI is usually going to take the best shot from their opponent. It's not unusual for UNI to lose to a team everyone thought they were going to beat. Illinois State, Western Illinois, etc. all have talented players who are capable of stepping up and playing with anyone on Saturday. There is no shame (just frustration) in occasionally losing to one of them and it isn't unreasonable for someone to predict such a loss in 2010.DJH wrote:So, we lost a couple of games last year, and that says we can't win more this year?dbackjon wrote:

Even if they did go 7-4, I think they would get in, with the expansion of the playoffs.AZGrizFan wrote:7-4. On the outside looking in again this year.![]()

I'm not saying you're wrong here but it is odd that you can argue against this line of logic that dback was using and then turn around in the very next sentence and use it yourself?DJH wrote:So, we lost a couple of games last year, and that says we can't win more this year?dbackjon wrote:

I think that they will go possibly 9-2 or 8-3 if they drop one they shouldn't but I won't put SDSU in the "firm victory" category either.

Yes, in basketball.
"Sarah Palin absolutely blew AWAY the audience tonight. If there was any doubt as to whether she was savvy enough, tough enough or smart enough to carry the mantle of Vice President, she put those fears to rest tonight. She took on Barack Obama DIRECTLY on every issue and exposed... She did it with warmth and humor, and came across as the every-person....it's becoming mroe and more clear that she was a genius pick for McCain."
