Southern names new head coach

Twenty-four days after it began, Southern University's search for a new football coach has ended with its first lead candidate -- Stump Mitchell.

Mitchell, running backs coach and assistant head coach with the Washington Redskins, has agreed to take over at SU next season, Chancellor Kofi Lomotey said.
