Former Griz score all Miami points

Post by hank scorpio »

Two former University of Montana football players were in on all the scoring for the Miami Dolphins in their 27-20 loss to Houston.

Lex Hilliard of Kalispell had 86 yards in total offense and his first two NFL touchdowns as Miami tried to rally from a 27-0 deficit against the Texans. Dan Carpenter of Helena kicked two field goals and two extra points.

Carpenter’s first field goal was a 27-yarder just before the half.

Hilliard scored his first NFL touchdown on a 2-yard run early in the third quarter. He added a 10-yard TD catch from Chad Henne with 9:25 remaining. Carpenter kicked the extra point after both of Hilliard’s touchdowns, a combination that University of Montana fans saw 45 times in the 2004, 2005 and 2007 seasons.

Carpenter added a 38-yard field goal with 2:30 remaining to pull the Dolphins within seven, but Houston recovered the onside kick.

Hilliard had nine catches for 74 yards and three rushes for 12 yards

So can we say that the CAA is better than the Miami Dolphins?

No, but I think it's safe to say it's not about the quality of athletes we get at Montana.... :coffee: :coffee:

Along with at least 50 other FCS programs, a handful of D-2 and D-3 teams, and probably NAIA champ Sioux Falls.

But, hey, as a Seahawks fan I'm glad the Rams are around. As bad as the Hawks are, at least I can look at the Rams and say "at least they aren't THAT bad".

I was listening to this game on the Houston Texans radio station as I was driving in from Dallas. The guys calling the game began to talk about FCS football after these guys started scoring points.

It went something like this......

"Hilliard and Carpenter played for Montana."
"Yes and they were just in the I-AA championship against..................I can't remember."
"Villanova and it was in the FCS Championship"
"Thats right, I picked them to win that game"
"Miami must being recruiting guys from the little schools"
"Hauck just got hired at UNLV"
"Thats enough I-AA talk, we won't talk anymore FCS football for the rest of the day"

Lex Hilliard can catch. Cool!

That was one of his biggest problems starting with Miami.

Hilliard TD pass from Henne, Dan Carpenter XP, and now Montana boys have scored 27 straight Miami points.

This is REAL fun to watch.

Henne had the nerve to try and throw a TD pass to someone ELSE (Despite the fact that Hilliard was in motion to his right), gets Hartline hurt on a crappy pass so Carpenter comes in and kicks the field goal.

30 straight points for the Hilliard/Carpenter duo.

Someone else is going to have to pick up the coverage of this historic event. I have to leave for a few hours.

And Hilliard just got smoked for a sack.
