Not exactly the same thing. Meyer isn't 70.
But the uncertainty is
Lane Kiffin is probably having brochures printed at this very moment.

I'm waiting to see how things play out at Tennessee. Kiffin come off like a clown, but his team was always ready to play. They almost beat Alabama and stayed close with Florida. I know that almost doesn't count, but the Vols were better than I thought they'd be.

Good luck with recruiting. If I were recruiting against him I'd be asking players if they wanted to play for an indecisive coach with health issues. You can never be sure when Meyer will return from his leave of absence or, if he does return, how long will he be back.
It won't change that much, if kids went there to play for Zook, they'll go to play for whoever takes over for Meyer when ever he does quit. It didn't hurt FSU with old Bowden so it won't hurt the Gates.

We'll see. FWIW - the talking heads on ESPN today disagreed with you. Their concensus was that Florida and Meyer better make a finite decision by the end of the weekend, otherwise recruiting would suffer.

Other schools will be reaching Florida recruits to them asking if they want to take a chance on maybe playing for Meyer, or coming that school and definitely play for their coach.

For all I know the talking heads might have been from Tennessee or Alabama, so there may have been an agenda.

those talking heads always play Chicken Little, of course they'll lose a couple of kids that are unsure of where they want to go. And of course I wouldn't mind if a couple of them found their way to Tallahassee but it won't be a huge number.

No Tebow=No more NC's. If he stays people (including me) are gonna say UF won those NC's bc of Timothy Tebow NOT bc of Meyer. :coffee:

Except for that 2006 NC under Chris Leak. Yeah, Tebow was on the team... but he was not the reason they won the NC... though he did single handily beat LSU that year.

I can guarantee you that other SEC schools have already done this... especially the ones that recruit heavily in Florida. Every year I hear people talk about how UGA got some recruit from Florida that was also being recruited by UF.

Its the same as APP state.. just bc leak won one in '06 DOESNT MEAN Meyer CAN win another NC without Tebow. Leak is sh*t compared to Tebow and you know it.

Tebow - 2 NC & a Heisman
Edwards - 2 NC & a W. Payton
without these guys.. UF & ASU can kiss the NC games goodbye for at least 10 years.

 That's my point. UF won with Chris Leak under Urban Meyer, why couldn't he do it again with another Chris Leak-esque QB? I doubt they will win it anytime soon because there's more than just Tebow leaving this year that will keep Florida down next year. Their entire Defense is practically gone... though they are bringing in the top two safety recruits in the country, three top ten CB, a top ten DT and a bunch of other ESPNU Top 150/All American recruits. As long as the ones who have made verbal commitments don't change their minds due to Meyer, Florida is reloading... again... and will continue to be as competitive, but probably won't be teetering on an undefeated season next year... they will probably look something like USC this year after losing Sanchez and their Defensive core :twocents:

ASU won 2 NC w/ Edwards why didnt they do it his Jr & Sr season? Again... the point is, MAYBE UF can win a NC w/ tebow... but they CANT & WONT win one in the next 10 years after he leaves... Same with ASU.. Thats why Meyer is leaving.

except look at that last game...game AT Florida State. FSU is in the ACC so do you not count that as an OOC game? :?

Anyway, recruiting will not be impacted that much in terms of the current commits that they have already maybe a few will decommit but doesn't that happen every year? It's going to be the recruits that are on the edge of their decision that Gator fans should be most concerned about. I also read that Steve Addazio, the interim head coach, is a great recruiter and is a lot like Urban Meyer.

Also, how can some people say once Tebow leaves they won't win NC's? They won back in '96 and after Texas lost Vince Young I thought it was going to be a long time before they were back in the NC and look at it this year...playing Alabama in pasadena. Also, for some of those that don't know, the Gators have a very promising QB to take Tebow's place next year called John Brantley who is a pro-style QB who actually might be better than Tebow in terms of all around game. He's a great passer and can run the ball, now he isn't Tebow in terms of leadership and motivation he has (afterall thats why Tebow had an edge over many QBs) but I think Gator fans can be relax a little bit because he's not going to be a bad replacement. A lot of people said if he could have started this past year he would have been a top QB in the SEC.

They also have a QB (Trey Burton) coming in that is rated #2 in the Nation, no chance he starts early but he'll be a factor at that position in the future.Their cupboard will be far from bare, lots of you talent still coming in, they're still the big dog in the state right now. Hopefully Jimbo can correct this matter. :coffee:
