Spiders lose more coaches

Post by Col Hogan »

The Richmond Spiders will need to rebuild most...if not all...of the coaching staff following the departure of HC London to UVA...

A number of assistant coaches have followed London...and the Director of Football Operations at Richmond is also expected to make the jump...

Can't blame any of them. Richmond had a nice little run, now it's time for another CAA South school to step up and take one of the top spots for the next few years. Towson? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

The guy I workout with at my gym played safety in Tonson, graduated in '02 I think. Anyways, he was originally recruited out of high school by Ambrose when he was the OC (I think). He had nothing but good things to say about him and honestly thinks that they will get back on their feet to a competitive level again. He is still in with some of the coaches there so we're going to try to go to a game next year at Tobson and he's going to give me a tour of everything you got up there. :thumb: I'll probably run into you at the game if you're there since you are your girls will make up about half of the home fans.

I didn't go to the last JMU game because of the embarassment they showed me in 06 which was a virtual play in game for us. The new field house is awesome. If you go I GUESS I'll go. :kisswink:

Yeah Ambrose was the OC in the PL days before UConn. He is a very good recruiter apparrently as well as a quality coach. I have the same viewpoint as your buddy.

Why wouldn't Towson become a good team?

They have everything I think it takes to be a solid CAA performer if they can change the culture of losing.

Facilities, coaching, institutional support.

Seems like it will just take a few years, especially being in the CAA South. But I think things will def change for them.

Because they are Towson?? :?

j/k...that's exactly what i was getting at. They have everything in place now with facilities and Ambrose hopefully kicking some ass. It would be nice if there was an actual reason to dislike Towson instead of just feeling sorry for them.

Old Dominion's road to the top just got another layer of asphalt.
Heck, it only took our program half a season to pass Towson.

It didn't take ODU half a season to win just 2 games...it only took ODU two weeks to win 2 games...

It's a legit question...is Richmond's successful run done? Are they going to join the ranks of the mediocre and doormats in the CAA? Or will they be able to sustain success going forward and hang with Villanova, W&M, UD, JMU, UNH, UMass...

IMHO, I think there will be a drop off, especially next year...since it's a large number of seniors graduating, and an almost complete turn over in the coaching staff...

A new system (on both sides of the ball) will most likely be brought in...and have to be learned...

I don't think that bodes well for the 2010 season...

But if Richmond hires the right HC, they could return to the upper level of the CAA in 2011 or 2012...

But what do I know????
