I call them as I see them.

The Big Sky sucks, but Montana is a very good team with a great home field advantage. :thumb:

You check the box score since you like numbers. Instead, I'll rely on the actual game I saw.

Ward missed some wide open receivers...all day. But, that is Ward...he has always been a blah passer. Sure, he hits some good passes, but he doesn't hit his wide open guys consistently. He certainly had enough time...ASU's D line pass rush was held in check. But Ward missed his passes. UR should have been up a few scores and then they could have run the clock out and ground down ASU. But, it didn't happen and ASU did what they needed to and won the game. ASU is explosive but did little before the 4th quarter (where they piled up most of those stats). Good comeback, but UR let them back in the game. And London was MIA on that last drive.

Face it, UR was the third or 4th best team in the CAA (UNH woudl split the series). Good, but not great.

BTW, someone in another thread said ASU will be used to the noise. Yes, you play in the Rock and hear noise. But you don't hear that noise when it is AGAINST your team on third down. Big difference.
ASU has no D. You held UR to their average, but their average includes some bad teams. And Ward missed a bunch of easy throws. The Griz will expose the secondary and the ASU D line wears down badly in the second half.

Griz win big.
ASU has never played anywhere near the noise level of Wa-Griz with hostile fans. The 109K at the Big House, Tiger Stadium with 86K (that registers on seismographs), and in-state rivals East Carolina with 45K+ were nowhere near Wa-Griz noise levels I'm sure  . I know Wa-Griz has an exceptional fanbase, but I don't think our guys will get too rattled given the stakes and past experience. We play FBS schools pretty well at their place and that's to collect a paycheck - this is a different animal altogether. I still like our chances.

BTW, Richmond played some bad teams which inflated their stats? But they play in the CAA, the greatest FCS conference in the US - that can't be possible.

Seems a lot of people don't think the Griz are a fast team. I think they match up very well speed wise with App State. What the Griz will bring is more size and strength, plus they are just plain on a roll. Edwards won't know what hit him. The Big Sky prepared the Griz very well this year because we are a better conference than what a lot people think.

Griz win big and Bobby finally wins the big one and moves on.

I guess that's why Montana blew out that powerhouse team Idaho St. As to the noise factor you mentioned, ASUG8 is spot on.

The fact is, you have no idea, and neither do I. I think this has the opportunity to be a game for the ages, but it also has the opportunity to be a game that get's ugly and become an over-hyped disappointment. Let's hope for the first, and may the best team win. :thumb: Go APPS!

So it's a close game, or we get blown out? Those are the only two options? :o

Thanks CC, I didn't think I'd ever see a Cat fan that thinks like I do about the other in state school.

I've been saying for years that the BSC does prepare us well for the playoffs We always have tighter games with at least a few conference mates than we see in the playoffs for a lot of games.

Nah, I said it could get ugly or it could be close. By close I mean, team losing has a chance to win. By ugly, I mean an SFA performance. It could be a disappointment by being a boring 20-7 game or something like that. That's not a blowout.

Of course ASU didn't have any close games against bad teams.

Oh wait they had several. The Citadel. Wofford. Western Carolina

Chime in when your team is still playing Jon.

Of course they did, but he was talking about the Griz dominating ASU based on the UR game. If we're going to use one game and the transitive property, then I thought I'd join in.

I said it right after the ISU game and I'll say it again...anybody that puts any stock into games where a good team gets played close is just an idiot. It happens all of the time and it doesn't say anything about either team. I'm sorry, but if you pull dumb shit like that out as a reason for this or that then I know you are someone not be trusted on the "football knowledge" scale. I call them "AZGrizfans"...

Yep we sure did - the Citadel game shouldn't have been close, but was. Wofford played us strong until they ran out of gas in the mid 3rd quarter and we won by 10. The Western game was with Cadet at the helm, not AE but still closer than it should have been.

So your conference co-champion was your third or fourth best team. Their only other loss was by one to Villanova, and they beat two solid teams in Elon and William & Mary, but they weren't that good. OK.

Beating a CAA team in the playoffs is like completing one of the first seven worlds in Super Mario Bros. — some little bastard who ain't even playing shits all over what you just did. Instead of Toad saying, "Thank you Mario! But our princess is in another castle!" you get Delaware fans saying, "Good game! But that team you beat wasn't our best team."

I don't think that the cold or noise will be a factor for App st. I think that their experience will get them past that especially with such a great, smart qb at the helm. I think that the noise will inspire the Griz to play better. However if the Griz are going to win then they need to force a few turnovers, or they need to get the running game back on track. We cannot be one dimensional, and we need to win in t.o.p. I honestly don't know who is going to win Saturday I think both teams are great and either one can win the title, it will just come down to who plays better, because on paper both teams seem even. So maybe coaching will ultimately decide this game.

Come on, Bench. Richmond was a blocked kick away from losing to Delaware - freakin' DELAWARE! How good could they really have been?

Agree. I have a hard time even coming up with smack for the App. game. I have watched too many of their games and like them too damn much to even come up with anything good. I just can't wait to see App. St. and Armanti Edwards playing the Griz.

Armanti is to App. what Dave Dickenson was to Montana. It's gonna be a real treat to see him play here but I hope we can keep him and App. from taking us out.

Hmmmmmm.

I can get a Greyhound ticket for $180.00.

2d, 14h, 30m of travel time.

5 transfers.

I got plenty of time but short on money since I quit my job at the beginning of November.

IS IT WORTH IT riding in a Greyhound bus for 5 days?!

Well look at it this way. At the very least you will get to watch the most epic FCS semifinal game in history at THE BEST VENUE IN THE FCS(sorry Kidd brewer you are a fantastic stadium but alas you are no Wash-Griz). Or you get all that and watch your team win. It's win win baby!

Thanks for the notice, wide! I've worked hard on 'em since last year, and its nice to see the effort payin' off!
