Seriously, most people here know that isn't true. But I have to wonder if yesterdays Weber performance will hurt the BSC chances of getting three teams in next year.
My guess is that a 7-4 third place BSC team does not get in over a second place 9-2 Patriot team next year.
It could, and Patriot League and MEAC teams performing well in the first round would help as well.
But as we know there are ton of factors to weigh in each given season, and a single game performance from a different year and conference affilitation theoretically shouldn't affect the outcome.

True. Also, 7-4 teams seldom find themselves in a position for a playoff bid. Any 8-3 CAA, MVC, Socon, SLC or BSC team would have gotten in over any 7-4 team. This year there weren't enough 8-3 teams to take all the spots.
kalm wrote:I find it interesting that other than Weber's performance, the Big Sky at larges have played pretty darned well, win or lose.
For example, yesterday's 11 point EWU loss was the worst we've had ever. In 6 playoff games the last 6 years we have won twice at seeds, and lost by 11 (yesterday), 3 (to defending National Champ ASU in '07), 3 (to runner up UNI in '05), and by 1 (SHSU in '04). Of those six games all except the SHSU were on the road.
Yesterday's loss ties for our worst loss ever in the playoffs. We lost to 11 to YSU in 97, the rest have been by 3 (UNI, UNI, UNI) and 1 vs SHSU.

I would answer yes. Especially if that team is Weber St. again. They did themselves and the Big Sky no favors with a poor showing
P.S --> Why wasn't this thread started by a W&M poster or have the UD posters been designated the defacto CAA posters since you always have a lot of time on your hands this time of year????

Ding ding ding!!!
Perhaps you nitwits missed the explanation... along with the thread started by an EWU poster about "Goodbye UD"
Just as I laughed about the original thread this one is fashioned after, I laugh at this one too. All's fair in love and war. We didn't perform Saturday, and our shoddy defensive play + injuries would have caught up to us sooner or later anyways, probably against Montana.....although I still think it might have been a good game.
P.S. - At least we made the play-offs, which is more than I can say for a few of the haters out there.

Well, this nitwits post came from the unending smack that UD fans have been laying on Montana and the Big Sky...perhaps you have not read any of the threads or posts of thiers??

What does that mean? Please explain why I should have more time than you do. Do you play for the Griz?

Where on this site can I find UD posters smacking UM? You asked your question in response to one of my posts, and I have never smacked the Griz.

I'd like to see where the "unending smack that UD fans have been laying on Montana" is.
Man, you CAA people sure huddle together.... Lets see..89Hen, 93Hen posting "Breaking News" etc. It is smacking on Montana not having to play anyone which is smack against EWU, WSU etc. WSU sucked yesterday against a team that you cant suck against. EWU finished 2nd in their track meet thus the Big Sky went 1-2 yesterday, which most eastern posters predicted..kudos to you as I had higher hopes for those teams.

Good for EWU. As a UD fan, making the playoffs isn't enough for me. I've set the bar a little higher. By my standards, this year was a failure for UD. Had UD made the playoffs, and lost in the first round I'd still consider the season to be a failure.

Then why don't you take up your issue with 89Hen and 93henfan. I'm not the guy you want to argue with regarding UM smack, I've always been fairly complementary of the Griz.

Very true, it's just easier to lump all of you together...

Good God did this thread ever take on a life of its own? I was simply repaying the favor of Screaming Eagle. My post was verbatim what he posted after other teams (UD, UNI, UMass IIRC) got their fourth loss. I took no license and injected no creativity in my post. I simply rehashed what he posted with a different team name. If you have a problem with the style, get with him, as he has the patent on this thread.
I really hadn't expected a bunch of you to go off on a tangent about how I hate Montana, because I don't. I've complemented Montana frequently and had them in the top 5 in my poll ballots the whole year. My issue is more with the Big Sky other than Montana. You guys from the west cry the blues about east coast bias incessantly every year without ever taking off your blinders and seeing the west coast bias that is inherent in all the human polls. Do a search of my posts and look at my comments about Weber State. Time and again I said "what is it that the pollsters see in Weber State?" You guys would always say "see how close they played those WAC teams"? Those WAC teams were SHIT. I had Weber State hovering around the #20 spot in my poll most of the year and #19 on my week 12 ballot. They simply were out-lossed by some of the teams in tougher conferences, like UNI, JMU, UD, etc. I couldn't imagine any of those teams with more than three losses (and very likely less) if they played in the Big Sky.

GPI would disagree with you about UNI playing in a tougher conference.

That's because it leans so heavily on the human polls and the PC voters that think they have to throw three bones at the Big Sky. They wouldn't want to be accused of ECB by those crybabies out west.

Actually, the MVC bitches about ECB too.

Thanks for the condescending tone, and congrats on being a UD fan.
Having made the play-offs 4 of the past 6 years, I think the school and most fans are at the point where we expect to go every year. Add to it the fact that this year's version of the Eagles had the best QB in school history, and arguably one of the best in FCS history, and we had high expectations for this season. Unfortunately, the injuries to some very key players caught up with us in the long run, which I figured it would. That said, we would like to get our program to the level where we have the depth to make some deep runs into the play-offs every year, but we are not there yet.
So to answer your statement, no, I am not happy with one and done. Considering this was the first time we didn't have to face a seeded team the first round of the play-offs, I expected to win - it didn't happen, time to move on.

So which is it?
At least we made the playoffs?
or
I expected to win?
If you don't want a condescending response, don't make a second grade smack comment.

Uh, both. Why would it be one or the other?
1.) "At least we made the play-offs" - you must have inferred that this comment was directed towards you or your program; it wasn't. But if you did, sorry, your problem, not mine. It was hardly an attempt to talk smack. Lighten up.
2.) And yes, I expected to win.
