Stadium Atmosphere
I realize that most people on this forum aren't Griz fans however I wish you could've experienced what Wash-Griz stadium was like in the fourth quarter of that game. It was magical. The crowd was so loud is was unreal. I have been attending Griz games for 20 years and that might have been the loudest (with only 19,000 instead of our usual 26,000) I have ever heard. All 19,000 people were on their feet screaming as loud as they could. It's just really hard to describe what happens at the stadium when the crowd is really into it. After a game like that I really feel lucky to have what we have. I know we won't win the most national titles and probably won't this year but as fans we are truly lucky for the emotion, and atmosphere we get to enjoy as Griz fans, nothing compares in the FCS or maybe even the FBS. I guarantee that anybody who comes to Wash-Griz will have a great time, it is truly something to experience especially in the playoffs.

34 points in the 4th quarter is a pretty good indication of what a strong fanbase can do.

Makes me think of the 2005 Texas St semifinal game. The atmosphere that night was unlike anything I have ever experienced at Texas St game.
Too bad it ended the way it did.

No doubt, the defensive effort in the 4th was unreal as well; I don't think the Jacks got past their own 40 until garbage time at the end. I doubt their players could even hear themselves think when they were on offense.ASUG8 wrote:34 points in the 4th quarter is a pretty good indication of what a strong fanbase can do.

I haven't seen the crowd that crazy since the '95 semi-final game against SFA. In '95 the Griz were playing for their first championship appearance & the Griz crowd was not yet spoiled by success. Yesterday was amazing & I wish every Saturday could be like that.

Agree...when I got the phone call from Ursus last night, I hadn't seen a score since it was 41-21 in 3Q, so I was expecting a postmortem tearfest on the other line.....instead, he sounded as giddy as D1B at a Jonas Bros concert...yorkcountyUNHfan wrote:The first thing I thought of when I saw that score was how nuts that stadium must have been in that 4th quarter

btw...I got ahold of you before the levy broke. I talked to AZ a few hours later and had to call him today to find out what we discussed. Apparently we discussed my rambling incoherency in a message I had left him earlier.
It was good to know as sometimes I lose friends in that scenario. Rightfully so,

I agree that '95 game against SFU was unreal. The stadium was so loud. I can still remember that MONTANA....GRIZZLIES cheer. It was so loud it shook the stadium. And I think there was only 15,000 at that game. Oh and we won 70-14.griz37 wrote:I haven't seen the crowd that crazy since the '95 semi-final game against SFA. 70 against Troy in '96
73 against Idaho State in '99
68 against SUU in '02
The only four times in the past 15 years we've scored more points than we did on Saturday.
And that was the FIRST time in the Bobby Hauck era we've gone over 60.

Re: Stadium Atmosphere
I see pictures of the Grizz stadium and I can only imagine that atmosphere in college...
I think the Delaware semi-final game two years ago was the absolute craziest I've seen it at SIU. It was in a loss, but it was such a close game the 2nd half most of us in my section were expecting McAndrew to give way beneath us.

Click on this: http://www.championshipsubdivision.com/ ... y-stadium/ and you will see several. It's a great facility. Notice how close to the field the front rows of seats are. That and the fact that the field is sunk down a little bit allows the stadium to trap sound like no open air stadium rightly should.andy7171 wrote:Wow! After the miracle on turf this past weekend against SDSU, I'm betting there will be a sellout crowd of 25,000+ for this weekend against SFA. Well, there probably would've been anyway, but I think that comeback psyched up Griz Nation like no other game has in the last few years. Thanksgiving weekend is always the worst of the season for attendance, but we'll make up for it this weekend.

I find it hard to believe that any stadium that has the home team score 40 straight wouldn't be loud and going crazy, IMHO.

I think you are harkening back to the 1995 game at EWU where we won 63-7. We outscored our last 5 opponents 273-54 on our way to NC match up w/Marshall. MSU had 33 of those points.putter wrote:'07 against UMass was pretty amazing also. Cold as F^*! but one game I will always remember, even for a loss.
