If we were worried about inconsistent teams I couldn't have picked a winner.

The only team that consistently performed was Southern Illinois.

Montana played poorly against UC-D, Idaho St, NAU, and had a bad 1st half against NoCo.
South Dakota State was beaten by a mediocre Cal Poly team and got smoked by Southern Illinois

Eastern Washington got waxed by a Weber State team that barely made the playoffs.
SFA got pounded by a middle of the road Texas State squad.

Elon struggled against their stiff competition.
Richmond looked terrible against VMI and almost lost to Delaware and JMU.

South Carolina State played consistently.
App St stuggled against McNeese, Western Carolina, and the Citadel.

Eastern Illinois blew so many games...
Southern Illinois was consistent.

Weber State squeaked in. They lost to Montana State and forgot to show up to the Montana game.
William and Mary threw away the Villanova game.

New Hampshire and McNeese's issues have been covered.

When it comes down to it, good teams win games. UNH has won games.

Maine: 134
Rhode Island: 202
Hofstra: 145
St. Francis (PA): 234

Southeastern Louisiana: 173
Central Arkansas: 161
Henderson State: DII
Sam Houston State: 193

So that really good SE Louisiana team is significantly worse than Hofstra and Maine. Try a better argument next time.
What position will Sagarin be playing for the Wildcats tomorrow?????

The Sagarin information was for DBackJon, who was suggesting that McNeese hadn't had inconsistent performances against poor/mediocre teams. It's very clear that the inconsistent performances McNeese had were likely against worse opponents than UNH's, though neither were shining moments.

Ok, first, they beat Rhode Island by 12. They allowed a ton of points but they also scored 55. Hofstra beat James Madison this year (who beat UD and UMass), and UNH won by 8 and led by 11 with 2 minutes to go. Maine was 4-4 in the CAA this year and had a win over UMass. They've also had lots of injuries and in general the game with Maine is close. St. Francis was the first game of the year, but unacceptable.

HOWEVER, if you're going to do that, how do you explain a 3-point win over Henderson State where McNeese trailed by 18? How about a 1 point win over a SELA team that lost by 15 to Nicholls State? How about allowing 43 points to SHSU, or perhaps winning by just 4 over UCA?

It goes both ways, DBack.
You will get all the answers you want at 2:00 tomorrow! (and you are not going to like them)

Hey, we have to wait until 3?!?

What kind of voodoo magic are you people using down there?

Sagarin ratings are helpful to a degree, but do not tell the full story.

Take the Jeckyl and Hyde SELA Lions - when they were playing well, they were one of the better teams in FCS. Then, they would lay an egg. But they had a great mid-season run. I still would not classify them as a poor or mediocre team, nor would I classify Maine that way.

You know I am correct when I say UNH has been inconsistent - the slow starts the Wildcats have had, the way they have allowed teams that they should beat easily to stay in games has taken months off your life...

Plus, my whole argument is not that I quibble with anyone picking UNH to win, but FCS Update's classifying UNH as a CLEAR FAVORITE...
