I gave myself an extra loss b/c I would have picked Liberty to win...
tothe left missed Thursdays game so he is credited for 20 games, not 21, but he is the ONLY one who picked Illinois State over Northern Iowa
How about me, danefan, and dbackjon?

Either you're trying to make a big move this week, or you reeeeeeeeeeally want three teams from the BSC in the playoffs.
Got half of them right :)

Yeah, I meant to say something yesterday but I forgot about it after the Elon game. Splitting even on that is pretty decent. To bad it didn't help you in the end though.

I'd thought you'd picked the LU and Lafayette games to get three BSC teams in as that would be the perfect storm. We'll see how that turns out this afternoon.

Isn't this extending into the post season or is this just a regular season Pick'Em? You may have some more time, I think they were talkin' picking the spreads too? May be to difficult though and should probably just stick to straight up.

I have a format that I think will work for the playoffs, as it was my understanding that Clenz was planning on running it until there's a National Champ. I'm waiting for Clenz to give it the goahead.

EDIT: Clenz gave it the go-ahead, so the following will be the scoring format for the playoffs:

Everyone picks a winner for each game, and a point-spread. (i.e. EWU @ SFA by 10 or EWU @ SFA by 6)

Being that this is the playoffs and there are fewer games this week, and even fewer the week after, etc., each game will be worth more points. Since there are 16 teams, there will be 16 points available each round for picking the correct winners.

1st: 2pts/game
Quarterfinals: 4pts/game
Semifinals: 8pts/game
Finals: 16pts

However, since there are much fewer games to choose from and each pick is a 50/50 shot, players will also pick a point spread that your pick will win by. If you correctly pick the winner of a game and you're within 10 points of the actual point spread, you get bonus points. You cannot get bonus points if you we're within 10 points of the actual point spread but picked the losing team. The bonus points will be determined as follows:

Within 0-2 points of actual spread = +5 bonus points
Within 3-4 points of actual spread = +4 bonus points
Within 5-6 points of actual spread = +3 bonus points
Within 7-8 points of actual spread = +2 bonus points
Within 9-10 points of actual spread = +1 bonus points
Within 11 or more points of actual spread = +0 bonus points

So for example, if person A picks EWU by 10, and Person B picks SFA by 6 and the outcome was EWU 42 - 38, person A would get (10-4=6) +3 bonus points (in addition to the 2 points for correctly picking the winner) and person B would get 0 points.

This format would give people in the middle of the ranks to jump to the front if they were dead on with their picks, and help decide a winner at the end should two people be tied and making the same picks. But, it will be hard to pick point spreads with too much accuracy due to the craziness and uncertainty that results when two teams that usually never play each other meet.

Does this all make sense?

Alright everbody, Clenz sent me a PM saying that he likes this idea but has only been home 2 hours since Saturday (probably BS, but whatever) and for me to go ahead and post the scoring system and games for the first round. I edited my above post to reflect the scoring system that Clenz and I decided on. If you have any questions, let me know.

The Games
Please bold or color the team you're picking to win each game, and then pick a point spread/margin of victory.

1 Montana vs. SDSU
EWU @ Stephen F. Austin

4 Richmond vs. Elon
SC State @ Appalachian State

2 Villanova vs. Holy Cross
UNH @ McNeese State

3 SIU vs. EIU
Weber State @ William & Mary

17 points is quite the spread there Jon... you sure you don't mean 7? And I'm not saying this as a CAA'er. I'm saying this because Vegas has this as a 3 point spread going the other way.

Yeah they play like they did against UMass and it will be a longgggggggggggggggggggg day for the Cats

Both of these teams are interesting. Both have very marquee victories during the season, and both have very suspect performances after said wins.
