What a great season, congrates to the Monarchs. Just 8 points from going undefeated this year, that is crazy. WOW...why did we wait so long for football

Because we didn't have a Canadian woman as our president lol! But seriously, this has been so special. I can't wait 'til next year! We might go 9-2 again!DaBigBlue wrote:What a great season, congrates to the Monarchs. Just 8 points from going undefeated this year, that is crazy. WOW...why did we wait so long for football

your season is over. There is zero chance you get in the playoffs.... As I have said before, the committee would take a team with less then 7 Div I wins (say Montana State) before they take Old Dominion... Great season, but the schedule wasn't playoff worthy, nor should it have been in the first season...
Dont worry though, I'm sure there will be many playoff appearances in the future for the Monarchs.

regardless of schedule, you have to admit it was a great first season for the monarchs. 9-2?! And to only think we were only a few plays away from being undfeated in our first season of football.
GO MONARCHS!!! CAN'T WAIT UNTIL 2010!!!

Re: FINAL: ODU-42 @ VMI-35! Our first season is over (I think)
Thanks to everybody who wished us well this first season. We've enjoyed it, and look forward to next year. Frankly, I'm sorry it is over, but over it is. Playoffs were never a question with us, and we all knew it from the beginning. Going 9-2, even with a weak schedule, is playoff enough for a start-up team.
We will enjoy our basketball season and look forward to the spring game, played for the first time in our home stadium (it wasn't ready this spring so we had to use a high school stadium). We will refine our offense, our defense, our lines, and our tailgating procedures. We will get get stronger, play better teams, get louder, and push on to the time when "ODU" and "Playoffs" won't evoke muffled laughter among our peers.
Until then, we will enjoy watching those same peers play each other enroute to a National Championship, and think of the day when we will need to travel to that game.

And this rooting for you guys ends when your games start counting in the CAA standingsMonarch Nation wrote:Thanks to everybody who wished us well this first season. I would expect it to end. Maybe sooner than that. However, I would hope that it would confine itself to the games where we can be civil to each other and not degenerate into a zone of idiocy and tiresome name calling.UNHWildCats wrote:

Re: FINAL: ODU-42 @ VMI-35! Our first season is over (I think)
I was fotunate to be at the game yesterday with approximately 2500 other Monarch fans who made the 200+ mile trip from Hampton Roads. Lexington made a great college football backdrop for our last game of the season. I really enjoyed the tailgating with fellow ODU fans and VMI fans who welcomed us and treated us great. The atmosphere was fantastic begining with with the VMI Cadets marching into the stadium, a jet fly over, the Monarch Band leading our noisy fan contingent, and a game that was filled with plenty of excitement from both teams.
But the best thing was finishing 9-2 and looking forward to the 2010 season where we will have everyone returning (except for one senior) and a whole host of new recruits.
