Shocking! Bobby Hauck On Short List For Notre Dame???
Heard his name mentioned today on KFAN in Minneapolis during a rundown of Weis' future there. Seems there's only four strong candidates and Hauck is one of them!!
Who would take Hauck's place at Montana?

I'd heard more about the Boise St, Utah, BYU and TCU coaches replacing Weis....

Re: Shocking! Bobby Hauck On Short List For Notre Dame???
They could hire anyone if they just want to win the BSC year after year
But if they actually want to win another NC they might have to hire a coach of some caliber

Good --- get Brian Kelly the hell out of Cincy before Albany plays them in 2011.
I'd like to keep the score under 70 points in the first half.

Jeff Fisher. Don't let the Titans recent turnaround fool ya. He's on the hot seat. And he loves Montana. After all, his son went all the way out to Missoula to play ball for the Griz. Mark my words.Cap'n Cat wrote:Who would take Hauck's place at Montana?

As a UM fan I don't want fat Charlie to leave. ND's suck takes the media attention off of our suck....and we can beat them with Fat Charlie there.

Yes, but why hire Fisher when UM could just reanimate the corpse of Bill Walsh.SouthDakotaGrizzly wrote:Jeff Fisher. Don't let the Titans recent turnaround fool ya. He's on the hot seat. I would be really surprised if Notre Dame hired an FCS coach.

It worked for fOSU, and right now ND has massive fOSU envy.Mvemjsunpx wrote:Yes, but why hire Fisher when UM could just reanimate the corpse of Bill Walsh.SouthDakotaGrizzly wrote:

ND may finally hit a homerun with that hire. I've followed Kelly since he was coaching at Grand Valley State (when I lived up in Michigan). He has won everywhere he has gone. I hope he doesn't go because I hate ND, but he's an excellent coach.Chizzang wrote:Dback is right - ESPN has the Cinncy coach and his entire staff headed to ND

Cinncy coach has said multiple times he will not leave. He said that he wanted to bring Cinncy to the top and keep them there. He doesn't want them to be a one hit wonder.
But money talks so I bet he'd leave.
I really hope Patterson stays at TCU.

I'll tell ya how this works out in Grizland Cap'n. We will go to the playoffs and if we lose and do not win the NC then a shitload of dumbfuck UM fans with their stupid kneejerkery will be saying that we didn't win because Hauck had his mind on the ND job and not this football team.Cap'n Cat wrote:Hauck's gonna figger in this somehow.

I'm not so sure Weiss is out at ND. If they beat UCONN & Stanford, go to a Bowl game and win it then I could see him staying. Hey, if he does go then bring him and Romeo both back to New England.

Could be true... but, I seriously, seriously doubt it. I was shocked that thier 35,000 against West Virginia set their attendance record... ~4,000 more than Appalachian's home record. That's pathetic for a #5 team in a BCS conference. He's barely in the top 50 highest paid coaches. Cincy will either have to come up with a whole lot more money... or he's gone imo.slycat wrote:Cinncy coach has said multiple times he will not leave. I don't think Hauck's going anywhere, though I'm surprised his name hasn't come up for PSU yet.
If Hauck DOES leave, though, I wouldn't be surprised if the next coach is Dave Dickenson.

ND fans will shit themselves if Hauck is hired. They just took an NFL coach, their fans won't settle for a I-AA coach. Even if he is really good.

The University of Cincinnati football coach is one of the hottest - if not the hottest - coaching commodity in the country. Last year it was Tennessee and Washington. The year before that it was Michigan. This year it could be Louisville. And there's always the prospect that Notre Dame might come calling if Charlie Weis gets fired.
Kelly has come to expect this. So have UC officials.
No matter how many new contracts Kelly signs with UC - and he just signed one earlier this year - it's hard for observers across the country to believe that he's really in for the long haul at UC, which has only recently discovered football success.
Kelly takes it all in stride. He listens to the overtures, says he's happy at UC and confident he can win a national championship there. While that may have seemed preposterous just a few years ago, the Bearcats' current No. 5 ranking in the BCS standings is proof that it is possible.
"When people look at this program and say you can do it here," Kelly said, "then the questions will stop. It's getting there."
The 4th-ranked Bearcats (8-0 overall, 4-0 in the Big East) will have the chance to show off tonight when they play Connecticut (4-4, 1-3) at sold-out Nippert Stadium on ABC-TV before a regional audience the eastern third of the country will see.
The network's top broadcasting team of Brent Musburger, Kirk Herbstreit and Lisa Salters will call the game.
"They usually don't send that team here unless they see the program as we've got to take this thing seriously," Kelly said.
Kelly, who won two national championships at Division II Grand Valley State in Michigan, is 30-6 in three years at UC. The Bearcats are on their way to what would be a third consecutive season with 10 victories or more, something that has never been done in the school's history.
And with the talent on hand, they appear poised to continue to win.

ll indications are that the 47-year old Kelly genuinely loves Cincinnati. He isn't, however, quite as fond of the never-ending speculation that he's leaving for every bigger profile, higher paying program on the planet.
"Why doesn't everyone question if Bob Stoops will stay at his job?" Kelly told FanHouse shortly after Thursday's radio show ended. "Why is Cincinnati not a destination job? How can you say this is not a destination job? You don't know how good a job Cincinnati is. You can build something that no one has built here."
