Tough game today. Congrats to App State on the win. I'm disappointed it wasn't closer. App just came out ready to play, and outmatched Elon. Nothing more I can say to back up my Phoenix.

Well, I can assume we'll never have to worry about an Elon fan posting the Hot!Hot!Hot! video in the future....

Elon played much better in the 2nd half. I am glad we won, but I was hoping for a much better game. Riddle may have an arm, but he has some serious things to work on. 1)He eyeballs Hudgens every play, rarely looks anywhere else, 2)Pocket presence- he does not move very well in the pocket. Many times, he ran into a sack. Unless one whole side collapsed, he didn't slide to the other side. He would stand there and just wait and wait and wait for Hudgens to get open, which rarely happen, 3) Bailout throws- those should go out of bounds, not thrown up, hoping Hudgins will come up with it. That is exactly how the first 2 INT's happen and ultimately what cost you the game.

I hope the coaches can help him in the next few weeks b/c that tunnel vision he has is gonna kill them and send them packing early in the playoffs.

I totally agree with you. It was rough watching Riddle struggle out there. It almost looked like he wasn't making his reads on coverages at all. He wasn't throwing the ball away, and he took way too many avoidable sacks.

Okay, since many App people just remembered they have an AGS account, I'll post live thoughts here.

First off, App has a Championship defense. Saw some of it last week, but it there in full force today.

Second, App has a Championship offense for obvious reasons. However, Armanti's might want to take off next week for it to fully heal before the playoffs. I know it's the Battle for the Old Mountain Jug, but we did the same thing last year when Elon hurt Armanti and that turned out well.

Third, Elon's PA people are BUSH LEAGUE. It started 45 minutes before kickoff when the offense ran on the field for warmups. The App band (which only had 50 members there due to Elon not allowing more) played the fight song, so the PA guy turned the Jock Jams CD way up, trying to drown out the band. This went on for the entire game. They also played a Sesame Street song and the Olympic Fanfare before a kickoff only to cut it off once they saw all the App fans using it as a cheer.

Fourth, Lembo must be a player's coach as their players had to resort to trash talking and gesturing to App fans to fire themselves up in their own stadium. Hudgins is built like TO, plays like App and acts like TO before and after the game. Quite a few tears after the game. The bigger you talk, the harder you fall.

Fifth, the score could have been worse if Elon had a defense like the past years. They stopped the App offense five times in the red zone which only cost them 6 points out of a potential 35. It could have been 56-10. So props to them for not folding like their offense.

Six, Elon's game day workers were quick to tell App people to get off the wall or whatever evil things we were doing, but nothing to their own fans.

Seven, Elon has a definite small man complex. They have three fountains in their lake instead of one. Their bell tower has four bells and they don't even play them. And during their entrance, they fired their cannon twice instead of once (after the App long rifle was fired once).

Eight, App had more fans than Elon did. It was it was split among the middle of the grass on the South End but not on the North end. There were a couple pockets of App fans on the Elon side to boot.

Ninth, for those who've been to Elon. If they bricked up the team entrance, could they flood the field and have Naval battles ala Ancient Rome?

Your 3rd point. I agree. I turned to the guy next to me and asked what the hell was going on when they played Sesame Street. Same thing happened with the Olympics song.

Your 8th point. It was close to 50/50 but I think that you guys outnumbered us 55/45 or something like that. We have a bigger home stands than away stands, but you had pretty much all of both ends of the field, as well as at least a full section on the home side.

Your 9th point. We are working on the Naval battles. We expect them by the end of December 2010. That would make such a good halftime show.

1) I agree to an extent. When App uses their firepower in the early goings like they did in the Elon game, it eases the pressure off of App's defense, which in turn makes them play better. I think some of the other games this season where App's O didn't click immediately did have the effect of increasing the pressure on the D.

2) Saturday's game certainly proved that. Hope Armanti is ready and healthy in time for the playoffs.

3) I will admit, that is a classless thing for the PA-crew to do. They've played the Sesame Street song for a few years now, and I still wonder why...it's pretty stupid. Actually most of the songs the PA-crew do play are lame. And if the visiting team's band shows up, as much as it pains you to know your rivals have their band at the game, you should at least give them the respect they deserve.

4) Wasn't at the game Sat so I can't really comment (I was on the AGS game thread and listening to the Elon audio stream)

5) App's first two drives off of Riddle's INTs were from great field position if I'm not mistaken so that definitely played a part of the first couple TDs (not taking anything away from the App Offense). I am proud that the Elon D did stabilize and have that "bend but don't break" feel, although I wish there was no bending at all.

6) Elon's workers are pretty quick towards Elon fans to. One of my friends got kicked out of the Elon-UTC game for our homecoming TWICE this year (don't ask how)

7) The tower bells do play every quarter-hour when the game's not on...We've always had 3 fountains in the lake, so it's not like we installed them in specifically for this game...I will give you the cannon argument though because we usually only play one.

8) That was something to be expected given App's football fan culture, and well...Elon's football fans.

9) You just gave me and my pals a great idea for the spring...mwahahaha :D
