Next year will be interesting. Our defense was relatively young this year and they should only get better. We are still stacked at WR. Bush should be back at RB and Reddic will get a lot more playing time. Our offensive line takes a huge hit but we seem to have some decent depth.CatMom wrote:Add TXST![]()
It was a good game, I suppose. Just didn't like the outcome today. We will still end with a winning season but we will lose our 4 yr QB at the end of it. Shit happens but the team accomplished something they hadn't done in nearly 2 decades. Maybe next year we will see an improved D that can stop the run
Bright spots - we will have Bush back and our #1 CB - both medical reshirts. Returning most of the D from this year and all of our receivers except 1 TE.
Down side - losing the 13 seniors - 10 of them starters. 2 big holes to fill on the O line. New QB
Will post more when I recover. (and get some sleep - work in the AM)
Hawkins will be the new QB. He is a duel threat QB and it will all come down to his ability to pass the ball effectively and read pressure in the pocket.
I'm happy for another winning season and will be interested to see how the Coach Wright contract drama unfolds.

See Scream, your stock is rising. Perhaps you should trade in your EWU hoody for a tweed jacket or letter sweater, your natty light for cognac.

Agree Sly. I wonder what will happen with Williams back. His replacement will have the experience and did a pretty decent job of it (can only get better) Perhaps they will put Williams in Houston's role?slycat wrote:[quote

I am totally happy with the season. Yes, it would have been nice to win last night but let's remember, we lost Bush. With Bush I feel we were 9-1, 8-2 at worse. You don't lose a 1000 yd rusher and expect someone to immediately fill that void. He is our star RB and we lost our running game (and offensive balance) when he went down....the first game.
Team will refocus. You know they will refuse to lose to SAM, at home. I can live with 7-4 until next year. The program is making strides. It won't happen overnight...I'm patient. I see us not having a losing season for quite some time (or until we go FBS)

This is what happens when a team with ZERO chance of winning the FCS championship...each and every year...gets a remote sniff at a playoff birth in a weak league. They talk a little smack because they know their end is coming soon. It always does.
Come to think of it, this is what happens when a team with ZERO chance of winning their own conference outright...each and every single year...sees other successful teams have off years.
Sad, really.
And what the hell are some people drinking when they say that NAU, PSU, XYZPDQ could all make the playoffs if they were in the CAA? Lord, it's similar to a pack of small dogs yapping up a storm because they have one big dog as their leader. The Griz are good...probably not good enough to win a tussle out of their back yard this year, but the rest of the fluffy mutts are just yappers making noise.

Cluck, you're an ass and know nothing about TXST. For the record, we did have a chance. That game Saturday was close and hard fought. Remember 2005? Jeezus, what a moron. Yeah, yeah, we all know the fucking UCA stuff. Get over it. They still aren't a full football member. Check the NCAA site and see where they are listed...under independents. Nothing they do yet, in football, amounts to shit.Cluck U wrote:This is what happens when a team with ZERO chance of winning the FCS championship...each and every year...gets a remote sniff at a playoff birth in a weak league. You know, when a team that hasn't had a history of winning starts to make strides in the right direction people either applaud or berate. I easily surmised where you stand. Nope, we've never been a DI powerhouse but you know what? Things are happening to move the program in the right direction.......finally. I'll take 2nd place and 2 winning seasons in a row (that hasn't happened in 2 decades) and all the good that is starting to occur in San Marcos, over all the FCS cynics here and on other boards. We'll probably have more losing seasons along the way but we won't ever be down like in the past.
Hey, and you lose a 1000 yd RB and see what happens to your O.....just sayin'
I'm excited for this program. Ridicule all you want if it makes your day

PS - will wait, but not hold breath, to hear how McNeese will get into the playoffs without winning their conference either. Oh, right, they won't get berated because they have "history." My bad

I'm not positive, but that's the way it appears anyway.

What's sad is a butthurt Delaware fan trying to make valid arguments about the strength of one of the top 3 conferences. By the way, the Big Sky is 5-1 in the first round in the last 3 years, each year sending two teams, with the only loss coming from Montana to Wofford, and by 1 point. Montana's history speaks for itself. Some education on EWU and the playoffs:
We've made it 3 times in the last 5 years (about to be 4 times in 6), and two of those 3 times we knocked off a #2 or #1 seed (McNeese in 2007, and SIU in 2004 respectively). In 2005, we lost by a FG to UNI in their dome, who went on to be the National runner-ups to App. In 2007 we only lost by a FG to eventual champs App State. Didn't App State crush Delaware in the finals that year?
