SFA punts. Bobcats get the ball at the 9. About 13 min left.

I don't think it was an upset at all...Texas State has better personnel than SFA and matches up really well with them...I'm wrong a lot, but nailed this one right on the head...thought it might be higher scoring but not surprised at all that the Bobcats dominated.dbackjon wrote:Huge Upset!!

We missed some scoring chances when we went to the run inside the 30 a couple times. Shows how much Bush means to this team. I think if they would utilize Reddic more we'd regain some of what we lost but they are, for some unknown reason, not utilizing the kid's talent.slulionsfan wrote:I don't think it was an upset at all...Texas State has better personnel than SFA and matches up really well with them...I'm wrong a lot, but nailed this one right on the head...thought it might be higher scoring but not surprised at all that the Bobcats dominated.dbackjon wrote:Huge Upset!!
Nice wins for the Lions today too. Now it's your turn to take down SFA.

And for the sake of argument
Brad George 31/42, 324 yds, 4 TDs
Jeremy Moses 29/43, 2Int, 244 yds, 1 TD
They had more total yardage but stats don't win games

Air Raid teams almost always pile up more yards, but have trouble sustaining drives without a decent running game...when we ran the Air Raid, under Hal Mumme, we just about always outgained our opponent but couldn't stop anybody and turned the ball over on downs a lot.CatMom wrote:And for the sake of argument

Thing about today's game is we played without our starting QB, top two WRs and our starting TE...we dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides and it shouldn't have been as close as it was...we fumbled a couple of times and had some special teams breakdowns which gave them short fields to work with...still came down to a defensive stop at the end and in years past, we probably would have lost this game.CatMom wrote:slulionsfan wrote:

If our D had played this way all year we would only be 6-2. I believe if they had played you guys (SELA) the way they played SFA we wouldn't have reached OT. Neither side of the line made the trip to SUU and we may have held TCU to 1 or 2 less TDs.
The D gave up 410 yds but only 7 pts. A stop on the 1, a stop on the 12, 2 int's, a fumble recovery. 2 sacks (I think). Moses had no time all afternoon. It was a thing of beauty to finally see this D play to its talent and potential. It's what we expected before the season and never saw manifest itself on the field...until today. It is what I saw and touted on this board, only to be disappointed and soundly critcized. (warranted)
Our 2005 D was like this...bend, don't break. As I said, if they play out like today, it will be really interesting.

Mom, it's about matchups and you guys matchup better with SFA's offense than you do ours...not saying you didn't give better effort today but it's not as simple as saying "if." You're talking two different offenses and two different schemes.CatMom wrote:If our D had played this way all year we would only be 6-2. And if we don't drop two deep balls that day - one of which would have been an easy TD - and fumble on another drive, we're never behind by 24 either.

While this may be true, our D hasn't played that well (as yesterday) this season. It was like we had gone out and recruited a whole new D, seriously.
Kuddos to the O line too, as SFA has some really big boys on their D-line. George was never rushed all day.
That 3rd and 31 TD pass play was a thing of beauty. (just wanted to throw that in.)
