Re: NAU vs Sac State
Hornets run it on 1st and 2nd and get nowhere. Pass completion not long enough and have to punt. Stupid play calling. Yeah, they ate up some clock. But they needed a first down or two to drain the clock more. Now NAU gets the ball with plenty of time to drive the field.
BUT!!! A GREAT punt, pinned the Jacks inside the 5!!!!

Re: NAU vs Sac State
Great play to keep Henderson from converting on third down, big 4th down w/ 30s left
And we convert! Come the fuck on another false start?

Sac calls time out. Icing the kicker on a 55 yard attempt.

Yeah, I know… What's the point? He already probably doesn't think he can make it, what good is icing him?Screamin_Eagle174 wrote:![]()

Had the leg, but wide right.
Griz have a 2 game lead & the loser of NAU/WEB will be out of the playoff picture.

Re: NAU vs Sac State
Dammit
Great game by the Hornets, they came out in the second half and completely shut us down. A well deserved victory

Amazing win! Terrible clock managment by Souers. They had 3 timeouts with just under 2 inutes to go to drive for the winning or tying score. The Sac State defense played amazingly well. They were able to get pressure on Herrick and force 2 late INT's that sunk any chance NAU had at coming away with a win. Amazing!!!

Re: NAU vs Sac State
I agree it was terrible play calling. I think with Smith already throwing 2 INT's in the game, Sperbeck was hesitant to let him throw the ball again. But at least Sac still got the win. Sac is now 3-3 in conference play. I think a solid 4 game winning streak is in order to finish the season.Screamin_Eagle174 wrote:Hornets run it on 1st and 2nd and get nowhere. Re: NAU vs Sac State
That probably goes back to Souer's offensive philosophy. As far as I'm concerned, the 2-min drill is (or SHOULD be) ENTIRELY in the hands of the QB. Looking to the sideline for plays (assuming the OC/HC has made up his blinking mind) takes WAY too much time. A scripted 2-min drill should be practiced EVERY week.
Of course, I'm of the mind that the QB should call the plays anyway, old fart me. If you can't trust the QB to call his own plays within the context of your offensive philosophy and the game plan, then you can't trust him to call decent audibles (assuming you even allow him to do so), and you can't trust him, period.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
