If that's how you feel then thats how you feel. He was a pretty polarizing guy. It just sucks that a bunch of kids playing football will have to deal with people not giving them respect based on one man who not only has passed away, but has very little to do with football, aside from the fact that he was the one that wanted to start the team... Once again, I can't wait for the auto-bid... takes more and more of this crap out of the control of biased people and puts it on the field so our boys can do their job.
Its a joke son, DAM. You seem to be fairly smart so you and I both know that the lower ranked teams. Those below 22-23 are more or less just how a person feels at that point. Nothing really scientific about it. The teams are usually too close to make any real judgment based on games played. So when and if I put you in it will be after my version of I think you beat someone worth beating that someone else didn't.
Hope you feel better now. :thumb:

Yeah, in the same way your 15 point win at Sac State in the Big Fluffy is a signature win for the Griz. :thumb:

It's tough to have a signature conference win when you've only played 2 conference games, and both teams you've played combine for one conference win... wait til the end of the year once we play GW and SBU...
You need to do some research. We have played four conference games and those four teams have combined for ELEVEN conference WINS, not two. They also have all lost to US.  :thumb:

Son....EVERY BSC team would finish above Liberty in the Big South....so YES, I guess that makes Sac State, Portland State, NAU and EWU ALL signature wins. Tell you what----you go undefeated in the Big South and I promise I'll rank you in my top 25. But beating Stonybrook doesn't count....they've gotten their asses handed to them in EVERY OOC game they've played.....including Hofstra, Colgate & North Dakota (yes, the same UND that just lost to a Division II school 10 days ago.

Even Idaho State? The way the Bengals look, they might struggle to finish in the top half of the Frontier Conference.

You assertion is absurd. Would you not include the Marshall game if it had been a win? SIU is not undefeated.

I'm just pointing out that it's a different animal. I don't think it's absurd to just consider and FCS schedule when ranking teams. I've got no particular allegiance to SIU or anything against Montana, but when it comes down to bigger wins, SIU wins in my book...AND I don't count the FBS loss against them. Sure I'd give them credit for the win, but I don't think you can knock them for a loss.

Go look at the history of the FCS poll. How many teams lose significant ground for an opening FBS loss? You can't compare the two polls and their methods.

On top of that, did you post your poll? :ohno:

Uh....you gotta rulebook on the polls?

Even looking at all of the FBS Top 10s this doesn't hold water. 6-1 USC is consistently ranked above undefeated Cincinnati and Iowa teams.

Umm...your comparison is a joke. U are implying that the Griz historically would be Iowa or Cincinnati in FBS football. More like Texas, Ohio st, or Oklahoma; and as I said they would never be ranked below a one loss Florida team, or a one loss team of the a fore mentioned. We are talking about a team that has been to 16 straight playoffs, and have more wins since 2000 then ANY DIVISION 1 FOOTBALL TEAM. They are hardly Iowa or Cincinatti, oh and by the way the Big East is far from a power conference anymore.

Plus you're dealing with apples and oranges. FBS teams don't open up with NFL teams. An FCS school that opens up with an FBS school usually takes a loss. I think it's fair to say that for the purposes of this poll, SIU is undefeated.
Wait. You're the one that said "[t]heir conference schedule alone is enough to sustain them." Are the Big East and Big Ten not BCS conferences? Wouldn't Iowa's conference schedule, under your theory, be enough to sustain them above a 6-1 USC (who lost to a schizophrenic Washington team)?

And again, you can't compare a 6-1 Florida to a 6-1 SIU. Florida's loss would be in their division against a team that they are compared with for ranking purposes. That's not the case here. SIU played up a level in a game they weren't expected to win. You can't compare that.

Finally, the poll is not about history. Where's yours by the way?

None of you Montana fans need to worry about this. Just like JMU did with their Top 25 status, if SIU is not the No. 2 team, it'll show shortly.

This is the same thing CAA fans have been saying for years. It's based on nothing but a lack of knowledge about LU and about the Big South. But we can't prove anything to those outside of our sphere of influence til we get the autobid and start beating people in the playoffs. And do so on the road, not in our over-sized ridiculous home field advantage stadium that we never lose in, and the playoff committee always sticks us in to make a buck or two. :thumb:

Okay, the stadium comment was about Wa-Griz, first of all...

And coming into this year it was supposed to be a down year. We lost a ton of experience all over the field, and figured we would lose to JMU and probably Lafayette and then win the Big South and be happy. However, our performance against WVU turned some heads, and we thought we might have a chance.

And that JMU game was not only won by Dudzik, who is 5 times better than Thorpe, but was also played in a downpour that kept us from running our offense... the only passes we could throw were lobbed dead ducks to Chris Summers.

Missed that first part.... From what I gathered from all the Liberty posters (minus you), it seemed like you hadn't lost anything even though it was your QB, WR's and RB. All I heard was about Beecher and Brown.

Dudzik didn't win that game, neither did Thorpe. Does it matter if it rained? Both teams played in it, JMU just happened to run all over you.

Because JMU is a running team. LU is a balance team that favors passing. A downpour favors JMU. And Thorpe couldn't move the offense a square inch. That's a fact, and you can go back and look at it. Dudzik and the RB's getting the ball FROM DUDZIK beat us, plain and simple. Our inability to move the ball thru the rain and our defense having to chase Dudzik and Sully all over the field wore us out.

It would be a different game if it was played on a dry field.
