I am assuming you, too, noticed how the TBS announcers shut down as soon as it became evident the Dodgeballs weren't going to win that last game of the LCS?

at the last game of the twins/yankees series there was a chant of "T-B-S - Sucks!" in the dome... my folks said they cut the crowd mics when it happened...

and yes... TBS clearly wanted the Dodgers to win the series... Chip Caray deserves so many bad things...

Let's do an objective comparison between New York City and its best-known suburb:

Food:
NY -- New York Sirloin Steak
Phil -- Cheesesteak (with Cheez Whiz)
Tastykakes, Soft Pretzels and real pizza
you don't put cheez whiz on a cheesesteak
(junk food heaven)

Notable Institution of Higher Learning:
NY -- Columbia University, a prominent comprehensive research university
Phil -- UPenn, a prominent football factory. Temple, Villanova
Tourist attraction:
NY -- The Statue of Liberty (is in NJ, thank you)
was made and donated in the 1800's
Phil -- A broken bell. Independence Hall, Franklin Institute
Betsy Ross House, Carpenter's Hall, Naval Museum (this is called, the cradle of Liberty, bub)

Great holiday tradition:
NY-- The tree-lighting at Rockefeller Center.
Phil -- Booing Santa Claus.(because we know he's not real) Mummers - better than a parade with a bunch of balloons

Culture:
NY -- Broadway, Lincoln Center.
Phil -- Rocky (ya gotta love it)

Memorialized in Song?
Ny -- Frank Sinatra. (sucks)
Phil -- Elton John. & Springsteen

Skyline defnied by?
NY -- Empire State Building; Chrysler Building.
Phil -- Comcast Center. Billy Penn on City Hall

see. Joe's was funny to me because I can tell he was joking.

However, did you say any of the following with a straight face as you typed.

"Real Pizza - Philly"

"Sinatra - Sucks"

"Springsteen - Philly"

Those 3 things are sins to even say in jest! :ohno:

What are you gonna say next.... the museums in Philly are better than NY? Or the Wachovia Center can touch MSG..... or are u really gonna get wacky and compare these?

Confused about the claim that Springsteen goes in the Philly camp. Springsteen has written many, many songs in which he exalts New York, but his only Philly song that leaps to mind is the one about how brutal the place is ...

"Streets of Philadelphia" is more about isolation and ignorance, not brutality. Come on Joe, lighten up. Can't help it if I am defending the"Cradle of Liberty" as opposed to a statue where you stand in line for hours and get mashed in a crowd and all sweaty and have to climb a zillion stairs for 5 seconds before being shuffled back down, against a free area to walk and roam and take your time to see where a bunch of rag tag men formed a nation. To each his own.

Not going to compare museums because I've never been to any in NYC, so it would be illogical for me to attempt, don't you think? It was easier to hang out in Philly than travel up to NYC on a whim. 20 miles was easier than 92, on a school night

Coming from a line of blue collar immigrants that settled in Philly, then migrated over to Jersey, I suppose I have an inherent affinity for the place.

Of course, you are right about Philly pizza sucking big time, but food is a subjective thing, and many people prefer sucky Pizza -- thus the success of Papa John's, Pizza Hut, and Dominos. With respect to Philadelphians, you are dealing with a group of people who think Cheez Whiz is a delicacy. What do you expect her to say?

I hate cheez whiz

Ok, so maybe I'm used to pizza in SJ, where it actually is made right and not from a chain. You think Philly Pizza is bad, try Texas

Having a song written about you doesn't make you all that. Think about that one.

To be honest, I'm a Philly fan so I defend them. Like it or not. I'm really not a big fan of cities, per se. I grew up in farm country and avoid cities when I can. Don't really live in Austin and avoid heading down there as much as I can.

You're really having issues with this Joe. I can send you one of my vicodins if you like. :thumb:

and I still don't like Sinatra, deal with it.

(and we love pulling your chain. I can see you getting pinstripes, head to toe, as you read these posts)

Series can't start soon enough. I honestly think the Yankees have the upper hand when it comes to days off. Phils have been sitting around a while.

Like I said earlier. Yankees in 6. But I fear it'll go 7.

Your starting to sound like an NDSU fan here Willie...beating on and on about titles that are well...old.

It would be like me, as a Michigan fan, boasting about all our titles, even those they are old as fuck.

The Phils had the exact same break last year and it wasn't a problem. Win or lose, the break won't be an excuse.
