On one hand, if the Yankees win, JoltinJoe will be even more insufferable, and I can't hold the fact that the Dbacks have won a World Series more recently than the Yanks have.

On the other hand, I would like to see the greatest hitter ever, A-Rod, get a ring and shut the unappreciative, unknowledgeble Yankee Fans up.
jeebus, you may the only person I've ever heard want anything good to happen to that over-paid piece of donkey shit.

not enough bad things can happen to A-Rod...

I for one couldn't agree more with this statement. Granted he hasn't been the best in the playoffs since he's been with us, but for any yankee fan to look me in the eye and tell me we would have even been in the playoffs with out him is lying.

jon, then you gotta go for the Yankees.

I can't be any more insufferable than I already am; and you don't need to worry about holding on to the claim "that the Dbacks have won a World Series more recently than the Yanks have" because the Dbacks "win" never really counted anyway.

Glad to have you aboard. :thumb:

You have to think people are generally good-natured at heart and will root against evil.

That's why I'm guessing when ESPN does its first Pulse of the Nation graphic, at least 47 states will want the Phillies to win this series.

The only time people ever felt a soft spot for New York was a couple of weeks in late 2001. It's OK to hate them again now.

Let's do an objective comparison between New York City and its best-known suburb:

Food:
NY -- New York Sirloin Steak
Phil -- Cheesesteak (with Cheez Whiz)

Notable Institution of Higher Learning:
NY -- Columbia University, a prominent comprehensive research university
Phil -- UPenn, a prominent football factory.

Tourist attraction:
NY -- The Statue of Liberty
Phil -- A broken bell.

Great holiday tradition:
NY-- The tree-lighting at Rockefeller Center.
Phil -- Booing Santa Claus.

Culture:
NY -- Broadway, Lincoln Center.
Phil -- Rocky.

Memorialized in Song?
Ny -- Frank Sinatra.
Phil -- Elton John.

Skyline defnied by?
NY -- Empire State Building; Chrysler Building.
Phil -- Comcast Center.
People:
NY - you know that one ******* from the town you grew up in? yeah, he moved to NY - the city comprised of 14 million "that one *******"
Phil - unsophisticated, but passionate and good natured children of immigrants. the kind of city truly loves it's own and has a hearty "**** you" attitude toward the rest of the east coast (just like the rest of America does)

fans:
NY - spoiled **** who pretend their franchises are any kind of special and all-fire sophisticated - mock "hicks" whilst dancing to "cotton-eye joe" and playing baseball in a billion dollar mall, a 50 year old arena or North Jersey...

Phil - fans with the passion to give a ****, even when their team loses. boo lack of effort, and stupid-ass contrived stunts (like the TBS announcers... they were booing for EVERY SINGLE FAN outside of NY and LA) (ps, they CHEERED Brad Lidge got behind him - knew he was struggling, and SUPPORTED him... little reported because it flies in the face of the Philly reputation)

rowdy fans:
NY - "bleacher creatures" due to absurd Yankee ticket prices, even these guys are **** investment bankers...

Phil - the 700 level - nuff said.

teams:
NY - a franchise that has spent 2 billion dollars this decade on payroll - with just as many WS titles as the Mariners, A's, Giants, Dodgers, Padres, Rockies, Rangers, Astros, Rangers, Twins, Brewers, Cubs, Tigers, Braves, Rays, Orioles, Nationals, Pirates, Reds, Indians and Blue Jays.

Phil - the reigning World **** Champs.

the philosophies:
NY - everything that is wrong with baseball - insane ticket prices, corporate EVERYTHING, douchenozzle players looking to make a buck, a manager who is a human rain delay - something no other team in baseball would even be allowed to do...

Phil - tons of homegrown talent (Utley, Rollins, Howard, Chooch, Hamels) a few key trades and risky free agents that panned out (Lee, Werth, Ibanez, Victorino, Feliz)

let's see if the umpires continue to be surrogate Yankees in this series... thusfar, they're the MVP's for NY.

Food:
NY -- New York Sirloin Steak
Phil -- Cheesesteak (with Cheez Whiz)
Tastykakes, Soft Pretzels and real pizza
you don't put cheez whiz on a cheesesteak
(junk food heaven)

Notable Institution of Higher Learning:
NY -- Columbia University, a prominent comprehensive research university
Phil -- UPenn, a prominent football factory. Temple, Villanova
Tourist attraction:
NY -- The Statue of Liberty (is in NJ, thank you)
was made and donated in the 1800's
Phil -- A broken bell. Independence Hall, Franklin Institute
Betsy Ross House, Carpenter's Hall, Naval Museum (this is called, the cradle of Liberty, bub)

Great holiday tradition:
NY-- The tree-lighting at Rockefeller Center.
Phil -- Booing Santa Claus.(because we know he's not real) Mummers - better than a parade with a bunch of balloons

Culture:
NY -- Broadway, Lincoln Center.
Phil -- Rocky (ya gotta love it)

Memorialized in Song?
Ny -- Frank Sinatra. (sucks)
Phil -- Elton John. & Springsteen

Skyline defnied by?
NY -- Empire State Building; Chrysler Building.
Phil -- Comcast Center. Billy Penn on City Hall
