Re: Anyone else having a hard time putting UNH in the top 10?
Why should a team fall in the polls for winning?
I don't think a team should be dropped until the lose a game.

Since I don't vote for CS, but I do vote for the other poll, I figure I will put my ballot up and let you guys know where I think some teams are...

I would like an honest, smack-free evaluation of my poll. I have been trying to go on a week by week basis and move people around based on their resumes (for instance, when Chatty beat Wofford, I moved Furman up since that made Furman's road win over Chatty more impressive). Let me know what you think, and if there are glaring errors (other than a slight bit of homerism with the Liberty pick.

Montana State loses again and they don't drop out! I can think of 4 or 5 border teams that deserve to be in over your bottom 3. I also think Cal Poly should be a little higher.93henfan wrote:My ballot from the other site:

Sometimes a lower ranked team is better than you think. If they win some impressive games they can leap frog over a higher ranked team, even if the higher ranked team also won.weberwildcat wrote:Why should a team fall in the polls for winning?

Honest and smack free? Montana should be ranked no lower than third.ToTheLeft wrote:Since I don't vote for CS, but I do vote for the other poll, I figure I will put my ballot up and let you guys know where I think some teams are...

Down in that range, you have to ask yourself if it's more impressive to be 6-1 against patsies with a loss to Brown (like Holy Cross) or a decent team in the Big Sky like MSU. I'm not impressed with teams that have a sterling record against Grade A shit. You know those teams: HC, Colgate, Laffy, Butler, GW, PV, etc. Give me a team with a winning record in the BSC any day.dgreco wrote:Montana State loses again and they don't drop out! Noted about Cal Poly. Their one and only marquee win (SDSU) is starting to age like a fine wine. I think that Cal Poly's resume will be complete after the UC Davis game.

Re: Anyone else having a hard time putting UNH in the top 10?
I couldn't agree more. That's the EXACT logic I use. Basically, I try to line up the 8-10 teams vieing for the last six slots and try to determine who would beat who on a given Saturday. And the PL, MEAC and Pioneer teams RARELY get that nod.93henfan wrote:Down in that range, you have to ask yourself if it's more impressive to be 6-1 against patsies with a loss to Brown (like Holy Cross) or a decent team in the Big Sky like MSU. Which is why 22 of the 25 spots in my poll usually go to the 5 power conferences.

I would love to see Weber State play New Hampshire in the playoffs, especially because I think Weber would beat them.
(Of course both teams need to make the playoffs first.)

yeah but that was a fluke

Re: Anyone else having a hard time putting UNH in the top 10?
Frankly, DBackJon, you said the same thing last year, when UNH made the quarters and NAU stayed home, again..
UNH has a 6-1 record with an FBS win over a pretty bad team and a premium FCS win over one of the best teams in the country. They struggled against Hofstra in bad weather, but I don't think there's any denying that the offense is having some problems. The St. Francis game was the first of the season, so I'll cut them some slack on that one.
I don't see many teams with better resumes than UNH, which is how I rank. SDSU and SIU both have wins over Northern Iowa (plus SDSU has a win over Georgia Southern) but I don't see how those wins are better than wins over Ball State and Villanova. Northern Arizona has beaten the following teams: Idaho State, Northern Colorado, Montana State, SUU and and Portland State. They beat SUU by 3 points and Northern Colorado by 8. There is absolutely, positively, nothing in that resume that indicates they are a better team than UNH. Weber's win over EWU is also not as impressive as wins over 'Nova and BSU. I do like Montana's wins over Davis, Poly, NAU and EWU, however, and have them higher than UNH. The only teams with clear better resumes than UNH are Richmond and Montana, IMO.

Welcome WrenFGun!! (and good to see ya again, YorkCounty)
Good write up - good to see some logical discussion.
UNH is in my top 10, but I will disagree that they are #3 in the nation - but that is the beauty of FCS, it gets worked out on the field.

Yes, welcome WrenF.... I also agree with you that NAU is a horrible team

Re: Anyone else having a hard time putting UNH in the top 10?
For the record, I, too, don't have UNH #3. There are plenty of teams with similar resumes that I think are better...I just think there are two that look much better than the rest right now.

Man, some of you have some teams way above or below where they should be.

I actually moved App St up this week, out of spite for your non-attendance. They seem to play a lot better when you come down with Sandy Vajayjayitus.

Chris...need a clarification...does your poll count if your team has already been eliminated from playoff contention? Inquiring JMU fans want to know.....
