Justin Gannon, Albany
Sr., TB, 5-6, 175, Sussex, NJ/Vernon Township
Gannon returned two punts for a total 88 yards while accomplishing a feat that had eluded UAlbany during its 10 years of Division I competition. Becoming the first Great Dane to find the end zone on a punt return since Oct. 31, 1998, Gannon brought one back 78 yards for a second-quarter touchdown that staked Albany to a 13-0 advantage over Duquesne. The senior tailback totaled 119 all-purpose yards in a 55-10 victory over the Dukes, Albany’s record-tying 16th consecutive triumph over NEC opponents.

Re: 10/10/09 Special Teams POW
James Mallory, Central Connecticut State
Sr., RB, 5-10, 200, Buffalo, NY/Kenmore West
Known primarily for his great ability to run the football, Mallory is becoming a game-changing force on special teams. The senior running back, who stuffed a punt in CCSU’s win at Columbia in Week Three, blocked two punts in the Blue Devils’ 42-21 Northeast Conference win over Robert Morris. Mallory’s first punt block gave the Blue Devils the ball at Robert Morris’ 22-yard line with 4:31 remaining in the opening quarter. CCSU tied the game at 7-7 four plays later. Mallory struck again on the first play of the second quarter when he again harassed the punter. His deflection limited the RMU punt to a 19-yard net gain and gave CCSU good field position for its ensuing scoring drive.

Zach Brown, 6-1 180lb FR WR/K from Keizer, OR
Kicked three field goals and 2 PATs (total 11 points) in Portland State's win over Northern Colorado in cold and snowy conditions. The field goals were 33 yards, 40 yards, and 50 yards. Brown did earn the Big Sky conference special teams POW award earlier this week.

There is also Jonathan Plisco from Old Dominion. He had 4 punts against Presbyterian for 162 yards, an average of 40.5 yards. While his average was somewhat impressive for a freshman its his hangtime on his punts that should be noticed and the way he kicks the ball. He's a left-footed punter which means when the ball hits off his foot instead of going end over end its spirals which means it makes it harder for returners to catch. Not sure what the exact number is but there's been numerous returners this year who have fumbled or muffed punts from Plisco and have lead to crucial scores for ODU.native wrote:Mike Snoy, Weber State punter and placekicker.

Overall, he's 4th nationally with 34 punts for 1,530 which is a 45 yard average. ODU averages 5.67 punts/game.
...pretty impressive for a freshman. Now, if he can get stronger?

Figures people would be posting all these punters. We've been invaded by them. If I recall, there's more than 1 guy on Special Teams.
