Portland State's chance in the spotlight

Post by JALMOND »

This coming weekend, both the Ducks and the Beavers are off, giving Portland State the opportunity to be THE DI football program in the state. Duck fans cannot use the excuse of, I'd like to see PSU play but the Ducks are on at the same time. Beaver fans cannot say, I'd like to see the Vikings, but we have to fight traffic to get to Corvallis. No games, not even road games, for the big boys. We also have a quality opponent coming, fellow Big Sky team Northern Arizona, so it should be a great opportunity, not only for Portland State, but for the conference as well to be showcased in the Portland area.

The magnitude of this? Imagine Jack fans of having a home game and both Arizona and ASU are off. Imagine Eagle fans of playing a game in Cheney with no competition from either UDub or Wazzu. Imagine Weber fans of a big game and nothing from Utah or BYU (or Utah State). This is our chance to show PSU football and the Big Sky conference.

So let's hope NAU doesn't completely ravage them, because that will only reinforce Duck and Beaver fans' apathy.

Will you be at the game? The gf and I both have the day off and right now its between the Viks game and visiting the cheese factory in Tillamook.

Am I re-instating your hate for Ducks fans? ;)

Should be there, as long as something unexpected doesn't come about.

And you don't need to reinstate the hate, it is always there. (that's PSU green, not Duck green) :thumb:

That's a terrific and unique place to watch a game.

You guys should be able to draw several thousand from local high school players and parents alone. How many Porland area guys play for PSU?

And if I'm not mistaken you have a much larger student population than Eastern. How's the marketing to the student's

Cue AZGriz's lecture on winning. ;)
