The time has come for me to make my annual Saluki week post answering the age old question "what is a Saluki?"

You see, many, many, many moons ago in desolate area of what we now know as Egypt there stood a young man who had felt so alone for sometime as he was the black sheep of his family. He one day met up with this sweet little pooch that was so ugly that itself had felt alone for quite some time. As the days passed the two grew closer, boy and dog until they were one day in-separable. After growing to love each other so much they felt that they should take their relationship to the ever so popular "next level" by loving each other and only each other.

Then one day the boy was becoming a young man and on his way home from school met up with another young man who shared the same interest as he, male body parts. The two newly found gay men loved each other so much that they decided to run away together to a homo-sexual university over in America in the southern part of Illinois where they could love each other without fear of being mocked by other Egyptian young men.

Meanwhile back in Egypt the young man's dog learned of his betrayal and soon found that his boyhood friend had moved to... you guessed it, Carbondale Illinois. The pooch was so distraught over this and so hurt that it began feeling so different than other dogs until realizing one day that he could fly. That’s’ right, this pooch could fly. After researching America and learning were Carbondale was it started flying over there. Feeling so alone that it became very violent eating children along the way!

When the Flying Dog got to Carbondale it had eaten so many children that it became rather large and could no longer fly (much like the women at SIU) so it waddled all the way into town only to be destroyed by several gay young men who played a new sport to the University called Football! They loved the fact that they all got to wear tight pants. "We must kill it" the gay men shouted! "It has eaten so many children", so they did, they killed it. After the whole ordeal they decided that they needed a new nick name for their gay football team. That is when one of the gay men remembered this experience and said, "why don't we call ourselves the Flying Saluki Dogs that eat Children"?

The new football team was the envy of the land until one day some right winger across campus felt that the name was too violent and the team was ordered to shorten its name to the Saluki's.

Everyone here should now know that the true SIU mascot is named:

"THE FLYING SALUKI DOGS THAT EAT CHILDREN"

How three computers see the game:

Massey:
UNI-31
SIU-19

Sauceda:
UNI-38
SIU-20

Markov
UNI-37
SIU-29

Per: http://www.masseyratings.com/pred.php?s ... ub=&days=7

Well I think it is safe to say the computers are giving UNI a rather large home field advantage in this one, despite the nearly identical records and rankings.

They're probably factoring in the usual jobbing we're going to get from the refs there. :coffee:

The home team has won this game EVERY year since 1997; Only once since 2003 has the margin been > 5 points.

If I were a bettin' man, I'd be puttin' my money on UNI in a close one.    :kisswink:

if I were a betting man (which interestingly enough I am) I would take UNI and whatever spread they throw at me....... still am unsure as to why SIU is ranked as highly as they are (and FWIW I don't see this line being less than 10 points.)

7 of the 27 came on a blocked punt
7 of the 27 came with 22 seconds left when UNI just wanted to get out of the shithole known as Fargo
 shithole known as Fargo huh? yea im sure cedar falls, IOWA is any better haha. Now i know where the UNI players get their immaturity from...the fans!!

UNI looked nothing special to me what so ever. Pat Grace is a total douchebag to say the least so I hope SIU rams him to the ground multiple times on saturday..and also run UNIs 5'6 RB into the UNIdome railing. Dale Lennon will win the coaching battle in a 35-24 SIU win.

If SIU really wants to run our RB to within a yard or two of the wall (but with absolutely no actual contact with that wall), which is what happened in Fargo, I say go for it.

We'll take the extra 15 yards.

Of course, in the UNI Dome, two yards away from the wall is practically on the field still

Pat Grace, douchebag or not, made your defense look like complete shit...I know that doesn't take much for NDSU, but still.

If SIU has a linebacker run Law, Strathman, Anderson, et al. to about a yard to two from the wall in UNI's bench so be it. They didn't hit the wall, there is no reason to be a bitch about it and throw a punch like some other players in the conference.
