Big Sky Predictions 10-10

Post by JALMOND »

Better late than never I guess. Currently I am sitting at 27-3 after splitting the four conference games last week. This week's slate is the toughest one yet this year and deserved a little longer to analyze. I'm sure this week will create some good discussions, especially with my picks. Remember, all are my opinions and all are open for discussions. Here they are...

ISU @ Sac State---Last week's game at Portland established some much needed confidence for the Hornets as they dominated both sides of the ball. At home last week, ISU themselves were dominated by Eastern Washington. Maybe the easiest game in the bunch...Sac State 28, ISU 10.

Cal Poly @ UM---So the Grizzlies come off of their bye week and get a taste of nonconference action by welcoming Cal Poly to Missoula. The Mustangs of the Great West are facing their second Big Sky opponent, taking care of Sacramento State in their opener. Tim Walsh takes another team in to Wash-Griz. Problem is, probably the same result...UM 35, Cal Poly 21.

NAU @ MSU---The Bobcats return to Bozeman after holding on to the win at Weber State last week. The Jacks were dealing with a pesky Northern Colorado bunch who would not go away. The Bobcats' defense seems to be able to shut anyone down, giving the team a chance to win. They will have their hands full this week as the Jacks seem to have a potent offense. The Bobcats opened some eyes last week, this week they should open some more...MSU 20, NAU 16.

PSU @ UNC---This should be interesting. The Vikings were totally outplayed by Sacramento State last week while the Bears were trying to earn the upset on the road at Northern Arizona. Yet the previous week, the Vikings were the ones who were trying to complete an upset against Weber State, while the Bears looked pathetic against Montana State. Which teams will show up...PSU 16, UNC 14.

WSU @ EWU---Some say the Eagles have taken advantage of an easy schedule and now is where the real games begin. First up on this murderous stretch are the Wildcats, coming off a disappointing loss at home to Montana State when they could not sniff the end zone at the end. The Eagles were making short work of Idaho State. A victory at home for the Eagles would do wonders this year, but this Wildcat team is mad...WSU 38, EWU 30.

Well, I could go 5-0 or I have just as much of a chance to go 0-5. Hopefully, it'll be somewhere in between.

And NAU will score more than 16 points, unless you are saying MSU's defense is twice as good as Montana's

It is. I don't think it will be very easy to pass on Saturday, the weather report shows 24 degrees and windy. We have a very weak secondary, but you need to have time to throw the ball, and that is one thing that no team has had against our front four.

I'll bold who I think will win, my scores predictions have sucked lately, so I give up on that for a bit
ISU @ Sac State

Cal Poly @ UM

NAU @ MSU

PSU @ UNC

WSU @ EWU

I am going with one road win and I think the griz vs cp game is going to be close but I gotta give the nod to my griz. I think the NAU vs MSU game could go either way really, so the home team got my vote. I hope to watch as good of a game this week as I watched last week(msu vs wsu) with the griz getting the W :thumb:

Certain weather conditions can affect outcomes of ballgames (and scores). It is a little different playing indoors at Flagstaff than playing outdoors in Bozeman in October. Have to factor that in.

Yes. Weather will be a factor. But I still think NAU will score more than 16

Bullshit much? We lead the conference in scoring defense and total defense. The kitties' pass defense is probably better than ours right now, but that ain't saying much. :coffee:

Nost BSC teams have had 1 or 2 FBS games, these are BSC stats
Which are slightly skewed right now based on teams played. Two or three games is not a large enough sample size to cite any teams as the best/worst defense in the conference - those claims become more clear each week.

It's gonna be real interesting when an irrisistable force (Trevyn Smith) meets an immovable object (Griz run defense) on Halloween.

Griz 35-31. Griz at home beat just about ANYBODY.

NAU 24-17. NAU will be p!$$ed at almost losing to UNC. Margin may be a bit higher.

Weber 45-42, 3OT. This is the game of the week in terms of strictly conference games.

PSU 42-17. PSU will be ticked at how they lost to "lowly" Sac.

Sac 45-3. The Hornets are hitting their stride.
