but the one i REALLY don't get is Miami at 8... no way in hell... their fans SUCK, flat SUCK. Heat fans don't show until the playoffs, there are no Panthers hockey fans, Marlins fans don't even know where they play (even when it isn't a rainout) and Dolphins fans have barely cared since Marino retired... then you have "the U" who, despite making it back to the top 25 can't draw dick to an epic saturday night game against Oklahoma...

i think the twin towns deserve about 15 (moving miami to about 22 to 26) and in a few years, with Target Field, TCF Bank, and a contending Vikings team again... they will be much higher.
66,000 is dick?
they may claim it... but no way it was there... lots of empty seats, thousands covered by "banners" - the universal symbol a team that can't sell tickets... their earlier home games were even more poorly attended... Miami is a city of front-runners who only show up when a game is "the place to be seen"

as for those going on about "gameday atmosphere" i don't really know what the criteria were - but i'd be willing to wager that the criteria was more a series of points, wherein an FBS team automatically netted more points than an FBS... even if that team is in the MAC or Sun Belch, and even if the FCS team is a perennial top 25 with big fan bases - even the biggest of programs in FCS can't draw better than most MAC/SunBelt teams...

my guess would be that factors in as well... while the Griz, App, JMU, NDSU, and UD probably put up attendance at or near many lower tier FBS schools, it's more exception than rule.

Where in the hell is Cheney on the list? The over 40 co-ed softball league is well attended and the Cheney 5K Fun Run gets athletes from as far away as Spangle. And don't forget night life, the sports bars (all two of them) are often packed, especially with folks coming home from the jet boat races in the St. John Irrigation
Canal or after the Lind Combine Demolition Derby

Put that in your Mo' Club, Kell's or South Beach pipe and smoke it. :thumb:

hahaha right? obviously they've never gone to Richmond...

For people who don't know, the priorities in Richmond are:

Crappy Art.
Smelling Bad.
Making their crappy art smell bad (it's possible...I've been there).
GWAR.
Learning the names of the friendly neigborhood hobos.
Eradicating religion from the city, or at least drawing Jesus riding a unicorn who's throwing up a rainbow, and there's a puppy walkin' the rainbow (swear...seen that on the side of a building).
Priding themselves about going through the experience of being mugged.
Fishnets.
Crappy underground music scene.
Thinkin' they know the answer to peace and freedom.

Even without Violent City University, that town is an "art" town, crappy art that it. One NASCAR race and a CAA Tournament that's broadcast on ESPN for two hours a year doesn't make it, in any way, a better sport town than Norfolk lol!

Sorry for the rant, my hate for Richmond runs deep.

What do you guys got? The Tides? Projects? Unfriendly Hobos? A bunch of emo punk rock imitators who will end up working in the ship yard?

^^Haha, at least our projects, unfriendly hobos, and emo punk rock imitators who'll end up workin' in the shipyard like sports, even if it's the Tides! Richmond can barely keep their minor-league teams goin', and their sport facilities are...depressing to say the least...

Richmond Football: How's their attendace for being National Champs? I doubt 3/4 of the city even knows they won it.
I won't give crap about VCU. They do have a decent basketball team, but I'm curious to see them w/o Eric Maynor.

something tells me that VCU is headed for 2-3 years of rebuilding... like every mid-major that makes the tournament with a squad of seniors...

There are lots of great sports fans in the Tampa area! The problem is, a large percentage of them are loyal fans of teams outside the region. :D

we should probably take this to the bball forum, but Eric Maynor was the only graduating senior in the last class, and they do bring back Larry Sanders...but it's still to be seen how they play with a new coach and the star player that's carried them for the past three years.

I don't disagree. I'm one of them. But the teams here suck, although I think the Rays will do better next year.

How in the FUCK do Great Falls and Billings make the list ABOVE Helena?

This list is starting to remind me of Blackfalkin's "25 best stadiums" list. I would sure like to see their criteria. :coffee: :coffee:

Probably rolled Cheney in with Spokane. Cheney could not even support a Ford dealership.

The Lind combine demo derby probably was included with the Tri-Cities.

Also, a side note, I would have thought they would include Moraga, CA with the East Bay (Oakland-Berkeley) instead of making them separate.

I live in RIchmond, and cannot understand how Richmond beats Norfolk.

Richmond just lost AAA Braves due to city council politics, they lost their minor league hockey team last year, and UR (defending national champs) cannot draw more than 8k per game. VCU fans, while unbathed, greasy-haired, foul-mouthed, and exhibiting no redeeming social graces whatsoever, do support their team well, even if the STU is vastly overshadowed by the TED.

Norfolk has the AAA Tides (Mets), a successful AHL hockey team, and two well-supported college football teams in ODU and Norfolk State. ODU also outdraws VCU in BB, and has a MUCH nicer facility in the TED.

If I can find a picture of Pavarotti, I will post to show everyone just how accurate your comments actually are.....

Ahhh the STU and VCU fans...where trashy people gang up and throw trash at the visitor's section during basketball games, three emo boys in fishnet sleeves stand there staring at you without saying anythin', you're constantly being flicked off and cursed at, the concession stands don't take credit cards, and one VCU girl has a poster that says "VCU and ODU: Make love, Not war." Oh man, that place is a hoot!

edit: to be fair to Richmond, AA baseball is coming to the city. The people get to vote for the new name of the team...the choices have been narrowed down to (seriously):

Hush Puppies
Rock Hoppers
Rhinos
Flatheads
Flying Squirrels
Hambones
