I'd put Taiwan Jones of EWU up against him. 9.2 ypc! Yeah, he doesn't get as many touches, but he's a beast. :coffee: :coffee:

I thought you'd like that stat. Of course, when you get ONE 96-yard run, it has a tendancy to raise the ol' per carry average a tad...

It also means you have real speed, like Deji Karim.

Speed and agility. The only person who ever really beat him when he ran track in HS... he's the starting back for Cal. You might have heard of him... Jahvid Best.

Karim looked better than Paschall head to head. Paschal had 23 more yards on six more carries, but it was most telling that in 28 carries his long was 14 yards.

From what I heard, the problem is more that they can't catch.

I have heard Jones has 4.22 speed......any weight in that?

He certainly looked like he did in that 96-yarder.

I would think he'd be playing Pac-10 ball with that kind of speed. :coffee:

Me too, although that's exactly how I have heard him described as having......."Pac-10 speed." But from what I have heard, he was over-looked for one reason or another out of high-school.......we have seen it several times before, and historically have done a very good job at grabbing guys that have somehow fallen under the Pac-10 radar.

The most interesting thing about Jones is that he played cornerback last year.

Paschall is the real deal and could get a NFL Combine invite. I would not be surprised to see him land in the late rounds or get signed as a free agent. On Jones and his speed I saw him play and I would guess 4.40-4.44 range. That 4.2 sounds awful fast. I could see him run a 4.35 or so in two years but I am trying to be conservative as many players are suppose to run a 4.2 and less than 1/4 of those ever do. Still, 4.4s or high 4.3s is still blazing fast.

He's a good back no doubt, but he can't be NFL fast or he would have had some longer runs at SIU given the holes he had in the first half.

Jones was an academic non-qualifier I believe, which is why we were able to grab him. In a season preview video on goeags.com, Nichols stated that he's been clocked by three different people at 4.22, but that includes human error. I'm guessing he's closer to a low 4.3... which is still ridiculously fast. He gets better every game, and I can't wait to see what he does in 2 years after that much more experience and time in the weight room. He'll definitely get a look at the NFL.

That probably says more about the Saluki D than the ability of Paschall himself. He is a gamer.
