Yikes!

Bobs played great, Wilds offense sucked!

Lots of tough games ahead.

All I know is I picked a hell of a game to go and watch! The MSU vs WSU was a very competitive and entertaining game. It was a sea-saw battle all day with both teams making mistakes and playing tough ball. You couldn't ask for a better day to go watch some football either, nice temp and cloud cover most of the day. This game came down to the wire with MSU making about one more play than WSU.

It was nice to meet Native as well and shoot the breeze. Native asked me what WSU should do on the 4th and 1, I called Smith, but said I only paid for a ticket!

Definitely not knocking him, I just think that is why he seems to get so many yards - which is a good thing. Defenders are ready for a hit from Trevyn and he just jukes them and runs around. I would much rather see a back make a move and gain 4 more yards than one who tries to run a defender over and only gets 2 yards.

You expect to get smacked by Trevyn, and then he runs around you.

Again, congrats to the Bobcats for a well deserved win.

The part of the Wildcat offense that sucked was 3 interceptions and a dismal 3 of 7 performance in the red zone. Otherwise, Weber produced 469 total yards compared to MSU's 360, in a balanced attack against a premier defense.

Weber can still move the ball and score on anyone in the FCS, but unless they can figure out how to stop the mistakes, they won't be going to the playoffs.

Smith is a stud, his O line didnt open very big holes and he still produces. not many backs can run in traffic the way he can.

Montana State is Legit this season, unfortunately I dont think we are.

Now I am sure that the BSC Championship is coming down to the Brawl of the Wild.

Weber is still legit, but with all the mistakes we keep making, we obviously have a discipline problem. The Wildcats can still beat anybody, but unfortunately, can still lose to almost anybody.

The biggest mistake of that game was the final play, when instead of just doing what you do best and power Trevyn Smith up the middle you guys try to run a triple option shotgun play...i watched that and thought WTF? Horrible, Horrible play call, should have just powered it in with Smith, at least you guys would have had a better chance.

So the first 3 attempt from inside the 6 dont really count huh.

this game did not hinge on only one play, its just that their last play was stuffed too.

Not really, both teams made too many mistakes, but it's early in the season and hopefully some of those mistakes will be eliminated.

Well that's true but I view mistakes as part of the game anyway and the Cats played well and were clutch when they needed to be. The Offensive Line looked like they were getting a good push and so forth.

You misunderstood me, i was just reffering to that play as one of the biggest if not the biggest because they were on the 1 yard line, 4th and goal and they try the option, in that situation they should have given it to Smith. Not saying the rest of the game didnt matter as it did, just saying on that play in particular i believe was the pinnicale mistake as if they had scored they would have won.

OK lets look at what happened based on what we see in the game and what the coaches said after the game.

1st & goal on the 6, they call smith off tackle to the left side, stuffed for a loss of 1
2nd & goal on the 7 the call a pass to the TE/FB in the short flat, tackled on the 4
3rd & goal on the 4 the call Smith off the left side again, stopped on the one.
4th & goal on the one. Mac wont say what he was thinking but Ash says his staff called that they would go to Smith again. The play goes off and Gazzero and Fletcher both beat the line and hit Smith behind the line after the fake handoff, Smith is tackled on the 3 by Gazzero and Fletcher goes to support the play happening with #8 on the left flat, meanwhile the pitch goes to #8 and Owens extends the play to the sideline giving Rider and Retoriono time to beat their blocks and make the stop at the 8 yard line. It was a good call because it was not what our defense was expecting, it was good defense because every one maintained dicipline and kept their assingments. Now had #1 and the other WSU reciever been able to maintain their blocks on Rider and and Retoriono, #8 may have made the pylon, but Fletcher was bearing down and had a pretty good angle and may have still pushed him out in time. I still think the call was good but WSU's execution was lacking in that they couldnt block our defense. Oh and they never were able to run Smith up the middle, Danny O, D'alba had that hole plugged all day.

It was a horrible play call, but MSU defensed it perfectly. They never had a chance. :thumb: :thumb:

Why is everyone saying it was such a horrible play call? Everybody and their mother thought Smith was going to get the ball, including every person on this board. It was risky sure, but they knew everyone was expecting Smith so they tried a little trick.

Horrible from the standpoint that when you've got the ball on the 1/2 yard line, you don't run a play that starts 7 yards deep. :coffee: :coffee:

It was horrible because Weber came out in a 3-wide shotgun on 4th. & goal from inside the 1. They were just asking for defenders to make a play in the backfield.

I agree it wasn't a great call and from a fans point of view in the stands it seemed dumb. But bottom line is 4 TO's. play calling wasn't the reason for the loss.

I agree, I am not trying to take anything away from WSU, I still think they have the best offense in the BSC. the TO's were key and the fact that 2 of them were red zone TO's is also key. Without them the Bobcats lose by +10. I would also say that our D gets some credit for the TO's

Fuh Show!

I didn't mean to imply MSUs D wasn't a factor. MSU clearly stripped the ball from our FB on the one to turn it over. MSU blocked a FG as well and picked off a bad pass in the endzone.

3-7 redzone was killer.
